Since I am a poor plebeian I bought a single serving of white cake at Ralphs to celebrate Hillary's announcement.
I intend to eat it at the time of her announcement for good luck...
It's a far cry from the party I had on Election Eve 2008 when I invited several of my friends to my home to celebrate Barack Obama's impending victory...We had pizza and beer... But I lost my home and business in the Great Recession so now my parties are more solitary...
Here's to holding the White House in 2016.

Then starting Monday morning the media will be buzzing.... prolly a lot of the usual crapola.... but... that is my guess.

But for all the attention paid to how Mrs. Clinton would reveal her 2016 candidacy, little has been said about her reasons for mounting another presidential bid. Her campaign rollout is expected to provide voters, particularly users of Twitter, Facebook and other social media, a succinct rationale that she is best positioned to address an American electorate that has seen virtually stagnant wages for middle-income earners over the last 15 years.
*snip*
Many factors played into the timing of Mrs. Clintons announcement. Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, whom Mrs. Clintons advisers are watching closely as a potential opponent, staked a claim on Monday as his announcement date. Mrs. Clintons announcement on Sunday will certainly draw attention from Mr. Rubios entry into the race and could well eclipse it.

(9,610 posts)Unemployment benefits are paid for by the employee while they are employed.
TANF benefits are paid for by child support payments.
Social Security benefits are paid for by the employee during their working years.
If you are working poor, you will likely remain so until you die. The system tries to obscure this fact through the methods of subsidization of "public benefits" but, in the end, you are the only one taking care of you.

(14,624 posts)Although I would probably vote for Elizabeth Warren if she were to run, I will happily vote for HRC if she stays in for the long game. Hell, I would vote for my own asshole rather than any republican (or is that redundant?).
And I agree. 'Here's to holding the White House in 2015'!

(53,031 posts)Unlike the poster above, I do believe it's possible to recover from tough economic circumstances. Six years ago, I was about as low as I could get--no job, no place of my own to live. Now I have a good job and a little house of my own. Certainly we face great economic obstacles, but it is possible. Hopefully a Clinton victory in 2016 will make that all the more likely! How nice you're celebrating. I propose a toast to both you and Hillary Clinton!

(99,710 posts)I leveraged my home to start my business so when The Great Recession hit my business plummeted and the value of the home I leveraged to start and maintain my business plummeted with it... I haven't even owned a car since 2009...
But it is what is... My girlfriend has a good job and she helps me a lot...There are people who are a lot worse off...

I am not myself a fan of Hillary Clinton, but I am a great believer in celebrating what's important. I do sincerely hope your cake looks exactly like the one in the picture, and is as fabulously delicious as it looks.
