With the temperature in the 70s and the sun shining, Fontenelle Forest was alive with people, animals and art Saturday.
The forest was one of the sites throughout Omaha hosting activities for people of all ages as part of Nebraska Science Festival, a multiday celebration that aims to showcase the wonders of science.
Fontenelle featured a variety of free showcases, including a hands-on snake demonstration, raptor and bat demonstrations, leaf imprint art projects, a monarch butterfly exhibit, small science projects relating to water and an Earth music performance.
Its really part of our mission to inspire the current and next generation to care for the natural world, said Brad Watkins, director of development and communications at Fontenelle Forest. Its an exciting way for us to get out into the larger community.

Thanks for posting. I don't visit DU often, so don't recall the brushfire. I'm sure glad I happened to see this good news!

I don't pick commercially, though.. but I would love to spend a couple hours filling my baskets. We're still waiting for them to really pop up here in western Washington.
