Anyone criticizing WHICH Democrat I vote for in 2016 (ie: whoever the nominee is), rather than my either not voting or voting for a non-nominee (in protest) for instance or to "teach Democrats a lesson", will be blocked.
There are exactly ONE important thing to me (and the country and the Democratic Party) in 2016:
1. EVERY DEMOCRAT MUST VOTE (every. one.) I KNOW they won't, but they should. I have NO sympathy for lazy-ass people who don't vote or refuse to vote when they're perfectly able to do so - I don't give a damn what their reasons are. Democrats who don't vote are idiots. Because you can BET. YOUR. ASS. every Republican will be voting. That's one thing they do - they turn out and vote for their candidate. WE must do the same or LOSING is an absolute assurance.
Arguing about which Democrat anyone votes for is a waste of time. Just GODDAMN VOTE.
United we win. Divided we lose. It's that simple. Verbally slapping each other around here on DU - especially NOW - about which Dem any one of us will support is counterproductive, IMO.
Hillary
O'Malley
Sanders
These are the three I'm aware of - only one has declared. The others have not. There may be others. I'll decide who to vote for later. I can accept Hillary if she's the nominee - regardless how DUers and even myself feel about some of her policy positions - or what some of them are likely to be.
If it's Sanders or O'Malley or someone else on the Dem ticket, they'll get my vote -- and I may have some reservations about them for various reasons, too. BUT. I. WILL. VOTE. FOR. THE. NOMINEE.
Meanwhile, stay off my tail about it. I'm in NO mood and I'll just block you. I haven't made up my mind yet because we don't even know who the nominee will be yet!
Damn, people!

(22,666 posts)...some jackasses evidently think I ought: 1. not vote; or 2. vote for someone not on the ticket; or 3. vote for someone who isn't even running yet. All this from someone when we don't even know who the nominee will be yet anyway!
Seriously? Pfft.

(57,936 posts)I don't think I have anyone on ignore. I figure I am smart enough and good enough with words to be able to hold my own and talk civilly with anyone. I hope so.
And you don't learn from people if you don't communicate with them. If you block people, if you don't face their ideas and words, you do yourself a disfavor. You isolate yourself. You deprive yourself of the challenge of dealing with ideas that are new and perhaps unpleasant to you.
It's a person's choice.
But what is the purpose in joining and participating in a political discussion forum, especially one with the word "underground" suggesting that it is not mainstream, if you are going to shut off those voices in the discussion with which you disagree?
I don't get it.
It's very puzzling.
So all of you. I may disagree with you, but I will not put you on ignore. And my default vote on juries is to leave it alone unless it is clearly objectionable, a personal insult that is serious or really stops the conversation. So you are safe with me even if my posts are a bit harsh at times.

(73,524 posts)Speaking only for myself, I don't understand why anyone would put you on "ignore." I have always found you an intelligent, thoughtful, sincere person to converse with. Indeed, you are one of my favorite people on this forum.

(57,936 posts)on DU. We agree with this idea, but not with that. There is nothing personal about it. Sometimes i absolutely love a post someone writes and then that same person writes a post that I disagree with. It is not a personal matter. For me it is great to be able to exchange ideas. I learn a lot.

(18,998 posts)You do not win hearts and minds by either punishing or ignoring people...and I have said so before. It just creates an atmosphere of tension and hostility.
But who am I to say it?...I am not a VIP or have some degree in psychology to tell anyone anything...all I have is life experience to go on...and I have never seen any good to come from it.
I would recommend showing love and respect for all, but that is so passe now.

(19,460 posts)Blocking someone is just not fun. It is so much more fun to read someone else's post than make a post myself. In the end, the Dems will come together for the nominee and the troll will go on their merry way.

(53,661 posts)That's all that I and my friends and family need to know. I think one should take them at the word, since the words match their deeds. It's not a contest over who meets all of one's criteria. It's about living.
Some will not in any way be affected by the outcome and feel free to not vote, and have said so. Good for them, but one wonders why they bother to hangue others.
It's not their problem. Just that of all us lesser ones who will squawk as the Republicans dance on our mangled bodies.
No more than some did in 2010 or 2014, when the evidence of the war on women, gays and the poor could not have been more obvious. It just wasn't on their radar.
Perhaps women, gays and the poor are not on their radar, which is okay for them, not us. Plus the GOP warmongering must have missed as few ears. They have proven to not my allies, so I don't bother.

(22,666 posts)I think you're right about that.
At the very least, they don't give a shit if millions die or fail to survive in this country. As long as their wealth-laden and corporate puppet masters are happily sucking up all the money and resources that can be funneled to them, they don't care. It's the GOP/Tea Party/John Bircher/Ayn Randian party that has NO conscience.
They say the opposite of love isn't hate. It's indifference. And Republicans more than any Democrat(s) I can think of possess an absolute psychopathic, shocking indifference to people (real humans) in this country.
They cannot win in 2016. This is about LIFE and the future. We'll either have one here -- or we won't. If they win, we certainly won't.

Not loving someone writing "get a life".
People who write things like that tend to be the people who really need to follow that same bit of advice.
Now back to TV and dog-petting!
