Today I saw lots of black and white photos that showed her as a very wrinkled old lady. The photos had her with odd expressions on her face. Then when they cut to current footage she looks much younger and smiling.
Seems to me that there is more of this going on than I have noticed in the past.

(17,469 posts)by "subtle" I was referring to the tactic, not the photo.
Daily Kos routinely uses VERY unflattering photos of cons in its articles, but then it is a partisan opinion site, not a news site. Fox is the most blatant at this, but a good indicator of where a news organization stands on a politician can be gleaned from the stock photos it uses. Flattering for people it likes, unflattering to repulsive for people they don't.
Of course, we could also address the sexism of how female candidates are especially targeted for this vile tactic.

(17,493 posts)Hillary Clinton seeks clean slate with press
By DYLAN BYERS | 3/24/15 11:14 AM EDT
Weeks after being dogged by accusations of secrecy, Hillary Clinton told journalists Monday that she wanted "a new relationship with the press."
Speaking at a dinner in honor of veteran Washington Post correspondent Dan Balz, the all-but-certain presidential contender acknowledged that her "relationship with the press has been at times, shall we say, complicated.
But Clinton said she was "all about new beginnings. ... A new grandchild. A new hairstyle. A new email account. A new relationship with the press. No more secrecy, no more zone of privacy. After all, what good did that do for me?
