Man Severely Burned Trying To Rid Rental Car of Bed Bugs

Man Severely Burned Trying To Rid Rental Car of Bed Bugs

Police say a Long Island man set his rental car ablaze while trying to kill bedbugs inside the vehicle.

Scott Kemery suffered first- and second-degree burns in the incident Tuesday outside an Eastport supermarket.

Police say the Bridgehampton resident poured alcohol over the insects, then sat in the car and lit a cigarette, setting off the blaze.

He fled the vehicle on his own.

The internet is your friend. Google diatomaceous earth and it would have been a lot safer and smarter. Or even leave the car parked in the hot sun for a few hours with the windows up. Heat kills bed bugs.

I would be curious if this would be covered under his insurance policy.

Honestly, I sometimes think that smoking lowers the IQ by quite a bit.
