(10,007 posts)Where is Hillary on this issue?
(I know, I know: she helped draft the accursed thing. But she should at least pretend to oppose it, since she's campaigning...).

(114,904 posts)after it, I'd guess she'll adjust her response accordingly. This is a very thorny issue for her.

(5,835 posts)What the hell are the positives of this? Why is Obama behind this, when it stands in stark contrast to a lot of his policy positions? Can someone explain this to me? I just can't see his logic.

(62,325 posts)Our government's first obligations are to the workers of this country. AND unless they enforce OUR Labor Laws on these 'poor countries' you express concern over, the abuse of workers in those countries will continue, child labor, nowhere near enough pay to even provide them with enough to eat etc.
Are these issues addressed in the TPP regarding the cheap labor this 'agreement' will provide for Corporations?
Do YOU support child labor?

(55,981 posts)The TPP is a corporate backed agreement. To think it will help the 99% anywhere in the world is naive at best. It's about corporate profits. Notice that not one person is trying to explain how this will help the 99%. Not one person. Apparently the Pres would rather take a chance on it failing than tell us why it is a good agreement. Instead those that won't commit themselves are busy disparaging those, like Sen Sanders, that are giving great reason to oppose.
To say that Sen Sanders doesn't want other countries to have decent jobs is untrue and a really low blow. Why are you so invested in seeing this pos passed?

(5,213 posts)You've used this dumb argument in other threads. It remains just as dumb here.

(54,770 posts)But I don't expect you to see that far ahead, or care.
Truth is, we've sucked up more than our share of the world's wealth and resources. It doesn't bother me to give some of it back. Vietnam deserves special consideration after what we did to them.
Our median wage is more than any country, save Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Luxembourg and Australia, yet we have Democrats saying screw the rest of the world. That's acting a bit 1%er if you ask me. Sanders' statement is pitiful.

(38,613 posts)There are no "Democrats saying screw the rest of the world".
Why are you pretending otherwise? Why are you damn near calling Sanders a racist because he protects domestic jobs? That's how far you have to go to defend this damn thing?
These are not the kinds of arguments one makes when one is defending something worth defending.

(9,610 posts)And I have first hand experience with US companies manufacturing on foreign soil.
There are ways to improve their standard of living. Colonizing their lands with our corporations is not a way to improve their lot.
Edit - And, the majority or the negatives of these areas are a direct result of actions which the United States has taken in regards to these areas to begin with. We destroy the countries with our MIC, then bring in our Corporations to "save" (enslave) them.

(82,383 posts)How do we know it is true? We are always expected to simply accept the conclusion.
Which is odd because the same people will call us cheerleaders for supporting Obama, even if we have reasons.
