Vet posts image of her holding up corpse of pet cat on Facebook: 'My first bow kill...lol'

Kristen Lindsey was fired from her job at the Washington Animal clinic, who distanced themselves from the ex-vet

A vet has been fired from her clinic after posting a disturbing image to Facebook of her holding up a cat she claimed to have killed with an arrow, while grinning widely.

Kristen Lindsey, 31, who lives in Brenham, Texas, reportedly shot the animal with a bow in her backyard, believing it to be feral.

However, a local rescue centre say that they believe the cat, called Tiger, was domesticated, and had been missing for around two weeks.

Beneath the original image, which has since been removed, Lindsey wrote: "My first bow kill… lol. The only good feral bobcat is one with an arrow through it’s head. Vet of the year award… gladly accepted."

In another comment, presumably before she was informed that she had been fired, she wrote: "And no I did not lose my job. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome."

Investigation means nothing. This person needs to be charged with animal cruelty and perhaps a bow hunting violation. Animal cruelty and bow hunting out of season are only tiny wrist slap misdemeanors. She can't be allowed to get away free with this. The owners of the cat also need emotional support, word is they are an elderly couple and loved their kitty very much.

April 17, 2015 - 01:28pm

The Austin County Sheriff's Office is investigating this incident. Calls can be directed to 979-865-3111. Please have patience while Austin County SO investigates this - their dispatching center has been inundated with calls. They will keep the public updated through Facebook and other media outlets. Thanks

The Austin County Sheriff's Office is investigating this incident.

April 17, 2015 - 10:37am

Update on the incident with the vet: Brenham PD has determined the incident occurred in Austin County, which places it outside our jurisdiction. However, the City's Animal Control Supervisor is in contact with Austin County SO to ensure a thorough investigation is conducted. Thank you all again for bringing this to our attention.

April 17, 2015 - 08:43am

The Brenham Police Department and Animal Control have received numerous messages regarding the posting of a picture of a local vet holding a cat with an arrow through it's head. We appreciate this being brought to our attention. We are investigating to determine where this took place and which agency has jurisdiction.

Friday

11:11 a.m.
Dr. Kristen Lindsey, DVM posted a picture on her Facebook page of her holding an arrow that is sticking through the head of a dead cat. The post read “My first bow kill, lol. The only good feral tomcat is one with an arrow through it's head! Vet of the year award ... Gladly accepted."
The post quickly went viral and prompted numerous calls to the Brenham Police Department and Washington County Animal Control.

Brenham police say the cat was shot in Austin County. The Austin County Sheriff’s Office tells News 3 they are investigating. Sheriff Jack Brandes says he sent deputies out to New Wehdem Road Friday morning where the incident occurred.

Lindsey works for the Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham. In the comment section of her post, she wrote “no I did not lose my job. Lol. Psshh. Like someone would get rid of me. I’m awesome!”

News 3 contacted the clinic to speak with Lindsey. They told us she is not available and they have no comment about the incident at this time.

The clinic’s website is getting so much traffic that it crashed. Lindsey later removed her post and then pulled down her Facebook page.

12:00 p.m. UPDATE: The Washington Animal Clinic in Brenham has fired the veterinarian who bragged about killing a cat with a bow and arrow.

12:48 p.m. Animal rescue group says the cat that was killed was not feral. It was owned by an elderly couple.

2:32 p.m.
Washington Animal Clinic received more than 500 phone calls Friday morning before they fired Kristen Lindsey, DVM.

Shortly before Noon, the clinic put duct tape over her name on the sign.

"Our goal now is to go on and try to fix our black eye and hope that people are reasonable and understand that those actions don't anyway portray what we're for here at Washington Animal Clinic," said Dr. Bruce Buenger. "We put our heart and soul into this place."

3:15 p.m. The cat that was killed with a bow and arrow is believed to be Tiger, a 6-year-old orange Tabby. Tiger went missing Wednesday. Kristen Lindsey posted the picture of the arrow through Tiger’s head at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday night.

4:00 p.m. Alley Cat Allies is offering a $7,500 reward for evidence leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for killing the cat in Austin County.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Austin County Sheriff's Office at (979)-865-3111.

“Animal cruelty must be taken seriously, and the guilty parties should be punished to the fullest extent of the law,” said Becky Robinson, president and founder of Alley Cat Allies.

4:45 p.m.
Dr. Kristen Lindsey had been with the Washington Animal Clinic for two years. She graduated from Colorado State University.

4:56 p.m.
Austin County Sheriff Jack Brandes says he was disturbed by Dr. Kristen Lindsey's photo.

"This kind of stuff shouldn't happen in our society," Brandes said. "It's a very sad thing. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of it and get the truth, 100% truth, and get it to the DA and put it in his hands if it needs to go any further."

6:44 p.m.
Despite the controversy, fired veterinarian Kristen Lindsey does have supporters in Washington County.

Shannon Stoddard stopped by the
Washington Animal Clinic with balloons and a thank you note.

"She's amazing. She’s caring,” Stoddard said. “She’s a good vet, so maybe her bad choice of posting something on Facebook was not good. But I don't think she should be judged for it."

Washington County Resident Preston Northrup said "all these people in the cities just don't understand what goes on in the country and they get in an uproar. They ought to just mind their own business."

Has anyone contacted the state licensing board with a complaint? Seems like they'd want to open an investigation just to weed psycho killers like this out of their profession, especially now when her notoriety is drawing such a huge response from the public.

Jesus, she is fucking Sarah Palin. And if the whole vet thing doesn't pan out, she'll just marry rich!

I love Wyoming and the mountains....the Big Horns especially...but any will do when it really comes down to it. I love hunting, fly fishing, pack trips, the outdoors in general, horses, skiing, dancing, whiskey, my friends, my family, God, raising hell, my daddy, and sheep...ya, that's right. I love having good times with good people. I recently discovered that what's important in life is to simply live, laugh, love, & learn. And to find a way to be happy with the everyday, simple things in life. I was accepted to vet school at CSU so I'm in the middle of spending 4 years of a new life in Ft. Collins, CO so that I have something to call a career! If that doesn't pan out, I'll attempt to marry someone rich so I can spend the rest of my days at higher elevations doing what I love.

and a few of my interests...

these little extras were stolen from my Facebook but it's a pretty good list to get you all started....

Current interests: Living my days to the fullest, finding the meaning of happiness, killing things or trying to kill things (animals, a full glass of whiskey, hangovers, etc), my friends (both near and far), spending time with my dad, the outdoors in general, fly fishing on Shell Creek until it's too dark to see, hunting with my dad and better yet...learning from my dad as we hunt, a good down-pour in the high country followed by great fishing, the smell of the mountains after a good rain and the smell of rain in general, God, ever little favor from my wonderful mother, living, laughing, my great brother, horses, seeing old friends that you never see and the feeling that you're still just as close as ever, family, the feeling of hope, a good drink, dessert, a really fun night and talking about it the next morning, equine veterinary medicine, all of my best friends who know who they are, rodeos, pack trips, a good workout, fog on the river, seeing the sun come up early in the morning, bird hunting with just my dog, a good meal especially if it's cooked by my mom, a good snow day, skiing on a good snow day, the smell of coffee, bbq sauce, a good tan (even though i hear sun causes cancer), the way a great song can bring back a memory, a hard laugh, dancing with a good partner, pictures, traveling, watching the Food Network channel all the time but never cooking a meal, the smells and colors of fall, my grandparents, my all-natural brunette hair, Wyoming history, the smell of leather, my down comforter, learning, Christmas, the cabin, whiskey, leatherwork, wildlife, turquoise, any day spent outside, good people, good places, good times, just to name a few.....
