Then in small print is the admonition that when the yellow team does it, it's a no-no, but when the green team does it, it's perfectly acceptable and normal,
and in yet smaller print the refrain is repeated "because it's absolutely necessary to win".

"Buying votes" is a silly notion, because it implies that if our side could provide a higher price, the votes in Congress would shift accordingly. That's not the case. These people vote the way they do because they believe in those issues. The money follows as a way to provide them support and protection.
