https://www.facebook.com/pages/Justice-4-Mya/825846230842512I wonder what's going to happen to the officer who shot my dog? Last night a officer of Minneapolis Police department shot and killed my dog cause apparently he said he was scared to get attacked.
Umm... my dog has never attacked anyone. She is very well trained and I had her since she was a baby. She was part of our family. She would have been 5 this summer.
I want to ask the officer why he assumed she would attack when all she did was bark at him approaching the property. What makes you different then a mailman, they take proper precaution.
Why shoot her when she's in my yard and your not?
Why don't you identify yourself before you shoot a barking dog. I've gone to plenty of properties that had dogs I was scared of, I never shot one because I thought it may attack. So why shoot my dog not once not twice but more than 7 shots fired?
She ran into my arms and you didn't serve any assistance other than asking me for my identification on my property?
Being scared of a dog should never mean come guns blazing. My kids could have been here. Thank God they weren't. But I still had family here!! U put all our lives in danger not to mention shooting and killing a member of my family, MYA.
You must not know me I put family first. And MYA will get justice. Just wait on it.
We will reserve this weekend for positive energy great memories and celebration of MYAs life verses be bitter over yet another excessive force used by the law! She will not die in vein. She will get justice! She was trained by me and all she was doing was barking at you for being outside the property.
It wasn't TIL you shot her she jumped out the yard! I wonder what a mail man would have done in your shoes? If your scared of dogs perhaps you shouldn't be a cop! You never identified yourself by the way... Can't wait to meet you! Til then I just want to remind you that you shot a member of my family!!

(65,273 posts)just like to shoot living creatures, and they jump at any excuse to do so--sort of like that vet who killed the pet cat with a bow and arrow. It seems to be pure bloodlust.

(19,926 posts)I don't care how many 'good' cops are out there, they are complicit in this behavior. I know they get ostracized if they speak out against their own but dammit, this can't continue.
It must end. Hopefully more and more cops will be brought up on charges and hopefully get convicted. They need to know the law applies to everyone. Fuckers.
Wow. MYA looks exactly like one of the pitties I used to have:
Argh... so hard to post pics from dropbox and link to FB pic won't work either.
I'm sure the dog was shot because it's a pit. What a shame. Pits are the best dogs. :'(

(6,719 posts)I am sorry about your beloved pet. I am sorry for you. I am sorry you have to talk about this with your kids. I used to think these things were dumb accidents. Now I think it happened because people are indeed dumb, uneducated, angry, mindless, immature, very short of good sense, and frightfully concerned about their own power.

(37 posts)The more I hear of incidents like this the more it seems like this is some sort rite of passage for cops - think of it as the cop getting
his first kill to gain acceptance with the others.

(1,668 posts)I'm leaning towards the side of the police in this case.
There are hundreds of dog breeds out there. If you are going to insist on having the breed that is famous for brutally attacking people and other dogs, then maybe you should make sure you keep them in a place where they are not seen as threats?
But of course that will never happen right? The whole point of owning a murderdog is to pump up one's low self esteem by scaring people with it.

(6,119 posts)I hope the local news gets people to call the Minneapolis Police to put pressure on the Chief of Police to find out who shot the dog.
the news story showed the owner tell what happened. Mya was in her own yard and the cop shot her once, then stood over her and shot her several times. There was on reason other than the dog barking at him before the owner could call her back. The cop didn't even warn the owner he was going to shoot her. it is sickening.
