A pattern seems to be emerging in the comment sections of virtually every article I have read concerning the drought situation. One can almost hear the squeals and clicks of their Hayes modems as they dial in for their daily buzzwords.
A bullet train pops up in each and every thread, and it's aimed squarely at the pocketbooks of citizens reaching for a cool glass of water from the neighborhood desal plant.
Liberals, and Governor Moonbeam in particular, secretly conducted weather experiments to destroy snowpack levels in the Sierra Nevadas. Or, conversely, they prevented the construction of dozens of reservoirs that would have magically filled with non-existent runoff water.
Teeming hordes of illegal aliens have turned on the taps everywhere and left the state dry.
Obama.

(14,449 posts)Since we typically are successful in every aspect of politics. California is a thorn we will fix. Problem with conservatives is they don't fix anything but make it worse. Look how we have slowly improved Detroit. In two years it is a bit better with more to go. We take responsibility for or errors which conservatives don't.

(35,698 posts)for the region. And still there was a gross over commitment of the available water. Now it is time to pay the piper. For starters, the whole region needs to get serious about water conservation. That includes banning use of sprinkler irrigation of lawns, among other things. Instead, offer incentives to homeowners to xeriscape their home landscapes.
Agriculture as well will need to revert to dry land farming and use of highly efficient forms of irrigation such as drip irrigation under plastic - which work quite well for vegetable and fruit production in California and Arizona.
