Friends,

Republicans are out there feeding us the same tired logic that what's good for the top 1% of Americans is good for our country.

Let's be real and call it what it is. That's what I did on NPR this morning.

Their trickle-down policies and destructive deregulation have hamstrung our economy and crippled our middle class.

So stand with me and tell Republicans to cut the bull. Let's fight for an economy that works for everyone.

But he has got to start moving the numbers.

In general, Republicans see Bush as the best possible candidate to match up against the Democratic nominee in 2016, but in hypothetical general election matchups against Clinton, Bush trails by a large margin, as do each of the other seven Republicans tested...

Marco Rubio fares best against the former first lady, trailing Clinton by 14 points, 55% to 41%. Bush trails Clinton by 17 points, 56% to 39%. Christie and Paul fall 19 points behind Clinton, each putting up 39% to Clinton's 58%. Huckabee, Walker, Carson and Cruz each trail Clinton by more than 20 points.

Clinton declared her candidacy for the Democratic nomination for president with a web video and promptly hit the road to Iowa and New Hampshire. Her campaign begins in an extremely strong position among Democrats nationwide: nearly 7 in 10 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents support her. Overall, 69% back the former secretary of state over Vice President Joe Biden (11%), Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (5%), former Virginia senator Jim Webb (3%), former Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee (1%) and former Maryland governor Martin O'Malley (1%). Clinton is also the second choice of just over half of the Democrats who prefer someone else for the nomination. All told, Clinton is the first or second choice of 83% of the potential Democratic electorate.

He really is committed to his presidential aspirations, so I don't see him backing out.

Stranger things have happened (Obama)! If he is a viable candidate next year, he has my vote. I'm in Alabama. I don't like to waste my vote on 'symbolism'!

8. And maybe they should add - even the Pope is onto you "trickle-down" assholes!

Well, maybe they need to avoid using the word "assholes" but everything else oughta work.

Maybe it'd be better to say "even the POPE isn't fooled. Even the POPE says 'trickle-down' is a bunch of baloney!"

Trickle down is bullshit.

I want all candidates to go on the record, saying exactly what they'll do their first month in office.

I think top rates should be restored to Eisenhower levels of over 80%. Right now it's 34%, with far too many possible deductions. Capital gains tax should be eliminated, and taxed as regular income.

Returning to Clinton era levels of taxation would be a strong start.

O'Malley has a nice voice, slightly Southern accent that may help him a lot with some groups. We shall see whether he can project the energy and passion that gets votes. He seems rather soft-spoken, very intelligent, but very soft-spoken. Nice, reasonable sounding voice. But he will need to convey passion and excitement. I don't know enough about him to know whether he can do that.

O'Malley. We (probably) have three capable candidates and very different.
