Gay Groups Not Showing (NY) Senate Dems The Love

For your consideration, the third item from today's "Albany Insider" column:

Gay rights groups have rewarded the four Republican senators who voted to legalize same-sex marriage with campaign donations and fund-raisers.

But some are wondering where the love is for Sens. Joe Addabbo and Shirley Huntley, the two Queens Dems who switched from being “no” votes in 2009 to “yes” last year but haven’t received a dime.

“Twenty-nine Democrats vote yes, and the four Republicans are getting all the money,” one political operative groused. “So much for the (gay) community standing up for those who stood up for them.”

My guess is that it's because the Senate Dems didn't have the courage to really push the issue in the two years of their chaotic leadership of the State Senate (note that Addabbo and Huntley voted against Marriage Equality the first time around), while the Republicans who voted for it last year really put their life on the line.

Honestly, some of this type of bullshit makes me livid, coming from members of the political party that should be supporting same-sex marriage because it's FAIR.

I'm betting the conservadems aren't getting much love from us down here, either. FUCK the sumbitches who went along with the teafreaks to put our rights up for a vote to amend our state constitution.

I'm sick, bitter, and depressed. It's so rare for a Dem to actually have our backs. At least we can count on the Goopers to spite us.
