(45,358 posts)Because physicians are smarter than everyone else, or something.
I use fresh herbs and minerals (that I can't get in food) to improve my health. My doctor agrees that I am extremely healthy.
Do you really believe that fresh herbs are bad for your health? They are plants and they are loaded with nutrition. Why do you think that is a bad thing? Does your physician really tell you not to eat greens? Why? Is he stupid?

(14,733 posts)Everybody with half a brain knows homeopathy is total bunk, while 'using herbs' often simply equates to 'using the unrefined forms of some of the same chemical compounds present in drugs without paying big pharma extra'.

Please don't stop eating fresh herbs no matter what these chuckleheads say.

(146,262 posts)They may believe that their intake of "herbs and minerals" is the reason for that. The danger comes when they have some health problem and rely on inadequately trained advisers and remedies that are untested in actual studies. At that point, their alternative medicine may become a risk to their recovery.
Some herbal remedies are effective for some things in some people. However, the lack of training in diagnostics and treatment among many "naturopaths" and other alternative health care advisers often means that diagnosing illnesses is haphazard at best and those old remedies may well not be the correct treatment, even if the diagnosis is correct.
Poor medical device from minimally trained people can lead to ignoring illnesses that may prove to be disabling or deadly. Self-diagnosis and treatment is even more dangerous. It is a mistake to rely on these alternative providers and remedies, due to the danger of ignoring something until it cannot be properly treated any longer. It happens a lot.
You're healthy. That's good. I hope you retain your health. However, if you become ill, I advise you to visit a medical doctor first, before relying on advice from someone with questionable training and experience.

(4,458 posts)First off, this industry, because of more and more folks transitioning from pharma drugs to herbal therapies...with success...are Very Threatened by a Profit Loss and so they go after them in a magnificent way...sparking fear amongst the masses.
Most every pharma drug out there started as a plant, root or leaf of something: ie: Aspirin is derived from the Willow.
So, Sorry...while some brands of commercially/corporately produced herbal remedies are not what they say they are (because $$$$) ... however these are Not the same thing as true Homeopathy. I believe the Majority of Homeopaths are legit and offer sounds alternatives for many ailments and should not be discounted. Many states are beginning to look at alternative therapies to SAVE money. Like Massage Therapy, Gym & weight loss programs over pills....It save money and our bodies through prevention.
So...again, I'm not buying the "boogeyman" argument.

I can tell you that it Doesn't necessarily come in a plastic bottle with a pretty artistic label for commercial purpose.
Ever heard of Codex Alimentarius?
look 'em up.
Are we being set up...once again....by the use of fear.....for corporate monopoly and profit...like cannabis prohibition in the 1930's?
And before you disregard the links explain their movement against Homeopathies....When was the last time you heard about anything truly exposing corporate anything on MSM...so, just because this isn't on CNN/MSNBC/FOX et al...doesn't mean this Isn't truly happening.
Water, energy, food "they" want to control All of it...globally. Why should medicines/homeopathy be any different?
