Bellevue East holds special-needs prom (kind of dreams come true for her)


I totally forgot to post this last week. I was reading something else that reminded me. We go by the school daily.

BELLEVUE, Neb. —It's a right of passage for most teens, but the traditional prom is not always for everyone.

Bellevue East hosted an inclusive event to make sure no students missed out.

Video: Special needs prom hosted by teachers, mentors

Life is filled with milestones and moments that will never be forgotten, and for Bellevue senior Katie Engwall, prom was one of those.

"She'll never drive a car. She'll probably never get married, and things like this are kind of a right of passage for high school students. This is one of those, you know, kind of dreams come true for her," mother Lisa Engwell said.
