I have a cousin who has a SISU sticker on the back of her car,for those of you who don't know what "Sisu" means,it's Finnish for perseverance,or guts,or moxie,it's a very common bumpersticker in Michigan.
Her husband was yelled at in a parking lot this morning for supporting the terrorists. After his initial WTF question, his accuser pointed to his sticker and said "they're beheading Christians you know?"

(32,886 posts)letters arranged in a way that doesnt make sense, it tries to make sense of them based on letter combinations it knows about.
When I glanced at your title very quickly, I initially saw "ISIS" believe it or not. I think that is probably what happened.
The difference is, the idiot who yelled at your cousin didn't bother checking to make sure he saw what he thought he saw.
Here are a couple of examples of what I am talking about:

(22,871 posts)Well that's interesting. I will say though that SISU bumperstickers are common enough in Michigan that if you lived here, you would probably read it as SISU.

(32,886 posts)Michigan but I wasn't sure if the event in question happened there. If so, that makes it more difficult to understand.
Still, anyone who goes off half cocked without making sure he saw what was offensive to him is a jerk.

(22,871 posts)that anyone would believe an ISIS supporter in the US would be stupid enough to have an ISIS bumpersticker.

(22,845 posts)Do Finns use the word rumal for "stupid"? I'm Estonian-American and we use the word sisu too, but not with the depth of meaning that our cousins the Finns do.
The guy in the parking lot sounds really rumal.

(22,871 posts)and my grandma could speak it fluently,so I can't answer your question about rumal. Does Estonia have it's own language?

(22,845 posts)I've been watching a couple of Finnish detective programs with English subtitles recently, and find that I can understand or guess at about a fifth of the words.
