Did anyone see that episode of Vice about the Anti-Immigradtion Laws in Alabama?

It just aired tonight and wow what an amazing piece. It really showed the utter STUPIDITY of lawmakers and the impact of passing one of the worst anti-immigrants laws geared specifically toward undocumented workers.

When the law passed in 2011 pretty much all of the undocumented latino workers left the country. But when you think about it Alabama is a southern state that has a long growing season and relies heavily on those undocumented workers as the backbone of that industry. But because of the harshness of the laws farmers had no one to help with their crops. What's worse they couldn't find anyone who would work as hard as the undocumented workers for as little as they had to pay those undocumented workers.

And it was funny some of the politicians they interviewed. One guy was saying about how the law would shut down the drug problems in Alabama and the Meth trade. But then the guy had to admit that since the law passed there was absolutely NO CHANGE in the drug & meth problems in Alabama.

Goes to show the stupidity of hate.

Tomatoes rotting on the vines, lost revenue for the farmers and state. I missed the last part of the report but the hubster said state legislators are quietly reversing the law, incrementally? I laugh at these stupid bigots.

I know that these illegal immigrants aren't paid that much but they are required to eat and stuff. I found it interesting that many businesses near these farms shuttered because of lack of business because the immigrants went away.

And other states are trying to pass the same law. It's like they see what has happened in Alabama but too stupid to realize it could happen there too.
