Yes, the TPA and the TPP will pass.

Passage is almost certain. History informs us of that. The republicans have a big majority in the House and a majority in the Senate, where it's easier to pass them. It only takes a fairly small number of Democrats to pass.

The reality is that strong arming from the White House is a powerful and effective tool, particularly if you have leadership assistance. She's not fully on board now,but odds are that Pelosi will be. Reid isn't needed. It's not just pressure from the WH that will pummel recalcitrant democrats into submission. It's the prospect of the corporate campaign donation tap being completely shut off. Believe me, these folks are being hammered with that threat.

Those that knuckle under will tell disappointed constituents that improvements changed their minds, and they'll remind their constituents that they fought the good fight. Is it Kabuki theatre? I don't know.

I hope I'm wrong. In any case, just as history informs us of why it will pass, history informs us why it will be damaging. We'll find out how damaging in a few years.

American taxpayers will pony up the money. This makes my head explode. This country is fucked. It's run by bought and paid for clowns that sell us out in order to hold onto power. There aren't any in large enough numbers willing to risk their seat to tell the truth to the people.

The Labor Unions turning off the money faucet and over a year plus of the damaging details of TPP being slowly revealed, any political campaigner that endorsed this deal will have to face the people.

And labor unions, alas, have lost a lot of clout over recent years

10. All it would take is one Senator filibustering.

I highly doubt that the pro-TPP forces can muster 60 votes to over-ride a filibuster.

This is where the rubber meets the road. Will Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren really go to the mat for us?

I hope so.

Nothing much remains to stop it.

I think they're operating on the belief that a TPP vote can't harm them because their R opponents also favor it & the M$M, being corp tools, will cover it favorably.

7. This will pass because we need to sell more than they need to buy our stuff.

The only solution is to start manufacturing what we need and stop buy their stuff.

Because, like cases like Net Neutrality, SOPA, marriage equality, and marijuana legalization, the tide only turns until very late, but it wouldn't have turned if it were not for the combined total efforts of everyone that fought passionately with hope and faith.

I think if there's a loud enough substantive protest it may not pass or it may go back to the drawing board. But it has to be people keeping phone lines busy, email boxes slammed, and mailboxes overflowing.

That is unlikely to happen. So I share your cynicism.
