Too many analogies, and all of them miss important points

This may be too general a post to be meaningful, but I'll try it anyway.

We (Americans) seem to spend far too much energy and thought in "reframing" our current conditions as somehow analogous to almost anything else. This approach is pervasive, and it leads us to miss the actual details of the problems that we face as a nation.

How about we all agree to run this country, not like a business, not like a family, not like a church, but like some sort of country?
