[Star Trek actress] Alice Eve Says Bruce Jenner Is ‘Playing at Being a Woman’ (TIME)

Disgusting views. Shame on her.

Star Trek actress Alice Eve said former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner is “playing at being a woman,” in an Instagram post about the newly-out transgender woman that she later deleted.
------------------------------
“If you were a woman no on would have heard of you because women can’t compete in the decathlon,” she wrote in a deleted Instagram post, the BBC reports.

“Until women are paid the same as men, then playing at being a ‘woman’ while retaining the benefits of being a man is unfair,” she added.

So she's not completely given over to 'the dark side', IMO.

Not with the "playing at" bit (which is incorrect and bigoted) but at the larger point that Jenner has gone through the majority of her life with the benefits of being "male". I have seen this argument played out between female-born, radical feminists and transgender women.

And as someone else mentioned, she did apologize and restate later on.

I suppose this was one of those teachable moments.

It's unfortunate that that's what they associated with her. She had a minor role in the second reboot film a couple of years ago. It's not what she's really known for.

And I really enjoyed She's Out Of My League when it came out since it was silly/raunchy fun.

('You' as in people who make anti-trans comments)

If you hate people who are transgender, own up to it. Stop making what you think are clever comments, and pretending to be misquoted. Nobody finds you clever or interesting, just like the Tea Baggers who race-bait.

If you think Bruce Jenner, or any other LGBT person is disgusting, say so so that we can avoid you.

His gender identity does not conform to his biological body.

It's not like a light switch went on and all of a sudden he knew everything there is to know about what it is and means to be a woman. It will take him years of full time manifesting as female, exploring this new freedom to be himself, to even begin to to "get it".

Give him a break. He hasn't even changed his name yet, fer crissakes.

They would have hung his ass for being Gay, much less trans. Stop acting like people in the 20th century had 21st century options.
