More of "The riot is the language of the unheard" quote

The riot is the language of the unheard. And what is it that America’s failed to hear? It’s failed to hear that the plight of the Negro poor has worsened over the last few years. It has failed to hear that the promises of justice and freedom have not been met. It has failed to hear that large segments of white society are more concerned about tranquility and the status quo than about justice, humanity, and equality, and it is still true. It is still true that these things are being ignored."

there would be no riots. Instead, people would be going to work at good jobs with good benefits including pensions, predictable schedules, safe working conditions and living wages. They would have enough housing, enough transportation, good schools for their kids and affordable postsecondary education opportunities. They would feel safe, because they wouldn't see corrupt politicians and capitalist overlords paying lip service to what is right and then doing what is wrong. They wouldn't watch while good jobs were sucked out of their community by crappy 'free' trade laws. And, finally, MLK's dream would be real: people would be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin. Prisons would not be private and police would once again serve and protect.

Last, when something bad happened, the media would report it thoroughly and accurately because news would be back under the fairness doctrine and held above the ratings game.
