Clinton says she and Biden are 'on the same team'
Vice President Joe Biden joked Sunday that he and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would run for the White House in 2016 "as a team," and in a Tuesday interview, Clinton suggested they are indeed a solid team.
"We've been on the same team in the Senate, we're on the same team now with President Obama," she told CNN Foreign Affairs Correspondent Jill Dougherty. "No matter what I do in future I'd love to have Joe be on the team because he is a great and effective person who cares deeply about our country."

(6,661 posts)I can see my radical right buddies, champing at the bit on a Hillary presidency. Hillary can get them fired up in a hurry, and in the wrong way. I like Hillary, and I would love to see her president. But I think she would get a great amount of hatred from the radical right.

I don't like him anyway, but quite a few here do.

I'm just wondering why women seem to "get old" before men do.
Renew Deal
(81,855 posts)Ron Paul never had a chance of winning, so no one cares. Hillary has a chance of winning. Romney is also up there in age for presidents, but he looks younger so people haven't noticed. Romney would be the fourth or fifth oldest president if elected. People talked about age when McCain ran.
I think this is all about something we don't want to talk about. People want the president to finish their term.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)The people who supported Paul were PASSIONATE about him
and never mentioned a WORD about his age. Sorry, but
as stated, Hillary is younger than Biden and would
certainly be younger than Paul OR McCain, and, gee, I just
don't hear much about that.

You don't hear much because you're only listening for what you want to hear. When McCain ran there was a ton of jokes and comments about his age. Ron Paul never had a chance of winning, so his age was irrelevant, but I heard about his age from the MSM.

(29,067 posts)but I'm well AWARE of the "McCain's too old" meme....I'm NOT, however,
aware of the "Paul's too old" meme and it may be because
most of your links go to right wing sites, which I rarely, if ever, peruse.
Hint: Don't presume to tell me "what I want to hear"...You have no idea
who I am or "what I want to hear".
Good day to you.

(59,501 posts)Even though, at that time, Hillary - who is a few years younger was enthusiastically pushed. As to McCain, come on - how many "old man yelling "get off my lawn" comments were there. The fact is that the Republican field in 2008 was pretty weak - just like the field for 2012. Likely because in 2008, it was pretty clear a Democrat was favored - now because Obama - in spite of everything is reasonably strong.
whathehell
(29,067 posts)My bad for mentioning McCain...I know he got the "old" treatment,
but the "get off my lawn" business was as much to do with
his personality as the "old".

Why are women always "too old," but men aren't? I guess Biden shouldn't be VP.
quinnox
(20,600 posts)women are judged more harshly on age, and its a sad reality. Because women are judged more on looks than men are, so there appearance is scrutinized quite a bit more than men.

By then the economy will be back to "normal", and collective amnesia will be rampant, and a younger, more eager (and undoubtedly angrier) republican field will emerge, ready to take over & start the pillage cycle all over..

(2,097 posts)When we start talking about 2016, everyone I see mentioned falls into one (or more) of 3 categories:
Senior citizens (Clinton, Biden)
The inexperienced and/or implausible (Warren, Grayson, Kucinich)
White guys (Cuomo, Schweitzer, Warner, Feingold)
It raises the disturbing possibility that, next election, you'll see a young, dynamic person of color facing off against an older white guy -- and the older white guy will be our candidate!
