Hillary-Biden 2016

Clinton says she and Biden are 'on the same team'

Vice President Joe Biden joked Sunday that he and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would run for the White House in 2016 "as a team," and in a Tuesday interview, Clinton suggested they are indeed a solid team.

"We've been on the same team in the Senate, we're on the same team now with President Obama," she told CNN Foreign Affairs Correspondent Jill Dougherty. "No matter what I do in future I'd love to have Joe be on the team because he is a great and effective person who cares deeply about our country."

Ron Paul never had a chance of winning, so no one cares. Hillary has a chance of winning. Romney is also up there in age for presidents, but he looks younger so people haven't noticed. Romney would be the fourth or fifth oldest president if elected. People talked about age when McCain ran.

I think this is all about something we don't want to talk about. People want the president to finish their term.

Even though, at that time, Hillary - who is a few years younger was enthusiastically pushed. As to McCain, come on - how many "old man yelling "get off my lawn" comments were there. The fact is that the Republican field in 2008 was pretty weak - just like the field for 2012. Likely because in 2008, it was pretty clear a Democrat was favored - now because Obama - in spite of everything is reasonably strong.

women are judged more harshly on age, and its a sad reality. Because women are judged more on looks than men are, so there appearance is scrutinized quite a bit more than men.

When we start talking about 2016, everyone I see mentioned falls into one (or more) of 3 categories:

Senior citizens (Clinton, Biden)
The inexperienced and/or implausible (Warren, Grayson, Kucinich)
White guys (Cuomo, Schweitzer, Warner, Feingold)

It raises the disturbing possibility that, next election, you'll see a young, dynamic person of color facing off against an older white guy -- and the older white guy will be our candidate!
