Favorite meal?

From childhood memory: Mom would make roast beef and smashed potatoes on Sunday night, loved that...Saturday nights ALWAYS was "Wide World Of Sports" and cheeseburgers.

Now: Dont shoot me, but I love Round Table skinny crust small style pepperoni pizza...Now I love a pizza in Sacramento called Zelda's which puts RT to shame, but I dont live in Sac'to.

Second: Cheeseburger

Third : Filet mignon with smashed potatoes

Anybody else?

Thank goodness filet mignon is so expensive, that way I dont eat it often

Chicago-style, are really satisfying to me. By "Chicago-style", I mean flour burritos using refried beans and shredded skirt steak. Brings back so many nice neighborhood memories when I lived there in the 80's.

potatoes, relishes, fresh carrots and celery, pickles and pumpkin pie. This is the meal I crave now that I am older. One reason may be that my own children now cook it all differently than she did. The wonderful smell of the house on that day is something else. This year I am asking them to raise one extra turkey so I can cook it my way.

A good friend of mine bartends at Zelda's in Sacramento.

And it depends on my mood as to my favorite meal, but it's almost always not particularly healthy.

I only live about 35 miles from Sacramento but I've not been to Zelda's. He just posts about it on FB, and invites his friends list to come on down when he's working.

poached eggs in a red wine sauce served with crusty sour dough bread and a simple salad of bitter greens.

Which is by way of saying that I don't have one favorite meal.

July. French fries and coleslaw.

One perfect summer tomato just sliced and eaten.

fresh picked corn on the cob, steamed or cooked on an outdoor grill, with lots of butter on the side...
