snip:
A former Port Authority official and ally of Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey is expected to plead guilty on Friday to the first charges stemming from the 16-month federal investigation into the George Washington Bridge lane closings scandal.
David Wildstein, a high school classmate of Mr. Christies who ordered the closing of several access lanes to the bridge in September 2013, was expected to plead guilty in United States District Court in Newark, according to people familiar with the case. The United States attorneys office declined to comment on those or other details beyond the news conference.
Mr. Wildstein told several people in the Christie administration that he had discussed the lane closings with the governor as they were happening, an assertion the governor denies. And through his lawyer, Mr. Wildstein has said that other evidence exists that Mr. Christie knew about the closings as they occurred.

Oh goodie...tell us what you've been working on Mr. Fishman!
"The United States attorney for New Jersey, Paul J. Fishman, announced early on Friday that he would hold a proceeding related to the closings at 11 a.m. in front of Judge Susan D. Wigenton to discuss the investigation. He said he would hold a news conference at 1 p.m., breaking his long silence over the inquiry."

"Gov. Chris Christie on Wednesday said he's "not the least bit concerned" about the federal probe into the George Washington Bridge lane closure controversy that's rocked his administration.
The governor, speaking to reporters in New Jersey for the first time in months, also refused to speculate on the outcome of the probe just as Bloomberg news reported that a former Christie ally is planning to plead guilty this week in federal court."

(14,255 posts)I do also think that, whatever happens, GOP voters would just admire Christie for closing those lanes.

Won't it be interesting to see how much power this asshole still has, what favors he can still call in and what's left of his thug hammer.
I hope he goes down so bad and so hard, he has a terminal melt-down. (is it wrong that I'm smiling?)

(1,241 posts)for Christie. He will do a couple years in a soft jail somewhere and will be rewarded under the table by Christie.

(2,419 posts)for Christie. This deal has been in the works for over a year. He's been feeding information to the U.S. Attorney since last March. How do you think the stuff about the "Chairman's Flight" made into the investigation? He's been singing. Now the dominoes are going to start to fall-not Wildstein.
