America’s shtetls
I did a post a short time ago where I referred to Baltimore’s “shtetl.” I guess the most surprising thing was that no one asked me what a “shtetl” was. Look it up.
To me, anyone who bitches about black people, (who are stuck in ghettos and virtually helpless to do anything about it), is a fool.
The Jews who lived in the Warsaw Ghetto didn’t have much to say about their conditions. And I understand that, (as far as I know), there’s no “Final Solution” in place for American black people.
Nonetheless, planned or not, black people are being killed in America on a daily basis, way out of proportion to their numbers in society.
If they were Jewish instead of black, don't you think voices would have been raised worldwide in outrage?
Again, Baltimore, Ferguson, et al, are not the Warsaw Ghetto, or anywhere near it. But to me, the difference is the intent of the oppressors. In Warsaw it was genocide and the numbers were huge. Here, it’s just “Keeping THEM in their place” and the numbers are far smaller.
But whatever the reason or the count, people are dying daily because of what they are. And if we are not doing something to change it, we are complicit it letting it happen. (Just voting is doing something.)
