Sunday night is the eve of the 45th anniversary of the tragedy at Kent State University.

Two of the victims that were killed on that Monday afternoon, May 4, 1970, were only 19 years old.
The other two victims were 20 years old.

This is the picture that was printed in Tuesday's newspaper, the one that has always stayed with me from that day --

That's Jeffrey Glen Miller's body laying in the street.

The college kids that met that day at Kent State were protesting Nixon's televised announcement from the Oval Office in the White House that he had just ordered the invasion of Cambodia.
Nixon had previously referred to these college protesters as "bums".

I don't think we have come very far as a nation in 45 years.

the occupy protestors biggest threat was pepper spray. At least they aren't killing people in protests now.

And notice we can't have a war that is based on the draft. They don't dare.

and I remember this real well. I remember it substantiating what I already had figured out, that this war was not right by any means

I would be turning 18 in the fall. I remember listening to this song at our youth center.

You are right, Major. We have not come that far, soldiers are still cutting our children down.
