A prominent Religious Right figure recently used church-state separation as an excuse to prohibit same-sex marriage, which can mean only one thing: Fundamentalists have run out of ideas to halt marriage equality.

(3,660 posts)They are right, in a way. Separation should stand and the government should never try to force the RCC, or, say, St. Theresa's in Dubuque, to marry a gay couple if they choose not to.
Just as long as the Dubuque Registrar's Office will, and that all laws in the city, state and nation that apply to hetero married couples do likewise to the gay couple.
Easy peasy. Your churches are safe and people are equal.
