Americans Flock To Bernie As Sanders Announces 175,000 Volunteers For Presidential Bid

Americans Flock To Bernie As Sanders Announces 175,000 Volunteers For Presidential Bid
By: Jason Easley
Tuesday, May, 5th, 2015, 11:19 am

Not only is Sen. Bernie Sanders raising millions of dollars, but he announced that he has over 175,000 volunteers pledged to work for his presidential campaign.

Video @ link:

Sanders made the announcement on The Rachel Maddow Show, “I had the feeling, Rachel that there was a strong undercurrent of support, and when we announced on Thursday, we sent out an email on website berniesanders.com. We got 35,000 responses in terms of contributions, and 100,000 people indicated on the first day alone that they wanted to sign up and work on the campaign, and those numbers have gone up in the last few days. I feel really good about that.”

Maddow asked, “You have 100,000 people who have pledged to volunteer on the campaign already?”

Sanders answered, “No, actually, we have 175,000.”

Later, Sen. Sanders added, “I think the main thing is Rachel, is that we have a message that is resonating all across this country. And that is, the income and wealth inequality in this country is grotesque. Ninety-nine percent of all new income goes to the top one percent. The top one-tenth of one percent owns as much wealth as the bottom ninety percent, and meanwhile, the middle-class in this country continues to disappear. I think people want a candidate who is prepared to take on the billionaire class and say you know what, this country belongs to all of us, and not to a handful of billionaire families.”

Within the mainstream press, there was an immediate dismissal of Sen. Sanders as a legitimate candidate, but Bernie Sanders is legit. The American people are putting the Senator from Vermont in a position to mount a credible challenge to former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton. The more money and volunteers that the Sanders campaign can gather, the longer he will be able to stay in the race.

Bernie Sanders’s candidacy is going to allow Democrats to discuss the issues that matter most to them. Even if Sanders remains a long shot to win the Democratic nomination, his candidacy has been and will continue to be beneficial to both the left and the Democratic Party.

Unlike the long shot pretenders that have been entering into the Republican race, Bernie Sanders has real popular support. Sanders supporters have already raised millions of dollars, and now they are springing into action to help their candidate.

I was just trying to think of how I could bring up Bernie's positions on the middle class to get my middle class mom introduced to him. But when she sees a D next to someone's name her brain stops working for some reason.

That was discussed this morning on the Bill Press Radio Show, that Bernie's platform could draw in a lot of working type Republicans as opposed to the corporate elite GOP.
But of course he'd have to get the nomination to get their votes, or some may vote for him in states with open primaries.

Or that he's is a SOCIALIST!

Take your pick...either he can be flat out ignored my the limp mainstream media OR FoxFakeNews can be left to slaughter him.

Trade deals, oil company tax breaks, tax loop holes, no to little oversight on banking and investment, insider trading. There is plenty of material for someone like Sanders to stick it them. Imagine someone who every time he opens his mouth tells the truth that would be a very dangerous Politician. Bernie Sanders is the one politician I have seen who comes close to that. He is running for the President of the United States not the Global Oligarchy. Be true to your principles Bernie and greater than Media distraction you may not need Billions to run.

If my local paper is any indication, I searched their site last night & only turned up one Bernie story, from April 29, about his pre-announcement. It was accompanied by a very repulsive shot of him with an apparent snarl on his face. Nothing since.

However, I think the mass media are declining in influence, and all those big bucks of the other candidates (of both parties) will play a diminished role. There are only so many hours of TV time you can buy, and there has to be a point of diminishing returns.

The social media are free.

I do enjoy the ramblings of an out of touch liberals. If anyone think Barry Sanders win the Democratic Primary need to live in the real world. 175,000 Isn't a whole lot of people.

Bernie needs to drop out and endorse Hilary. Two words Surpreme Court.

Possibly Gene McCarthy and RFK in 1968 but even that wasn't on this scale.

The natives are getting very, VERY restless.

But if I were Bernie I would stay out of small planes. This kind of shit is going to make TPTB load their trousers.

Unless he gets frustrated and goes back on his word to not be a spoiler, hundreds of thousands of people spreading the message of income inequality and its effect will work wonders to raise awareness and somewhat blunt the impact of coast to coast RWNJ radio chat dominance.
