(29,503 posts)one night during a workout, I was finishing a set, doing 'just one more!' and I was too worn out to lift the barbell even once more - and oops, it fell back towards the bench. As I did this routinely without any spotter (in the basement at home), I very easily could have injured myself, but I somehow found the strength to wiggle out from under it and to safety, without injury.
But it was that night when I came face to face with the reality of the dangers in exercising alone.
I think it still hasn't come out exactly how this accident happened, but I'm sure over time it will, and I'm curious to know if it was something like that. Strange that someone of his socioeconomic status had no one with him to help, or if there was someone there with him, was this something more sinister...?

(102,218 posts)having taken a few "trips" using my treadmill as well. I hope others take from this the need to be quite careful and more focused when using them. It is quite sad for someone to die doing something that was meant to improve one's health.
