Teen Girl Suspended For Hilariously Realistic Answers On Sex-Ed Quiz

AUTHOR: SHANNON BARBER MAY 5, 2015 11:01 AM

For decades, conservatives have done everything in their power to keep our children as ignorant as possible about safe sex. The results? The rampant spread of sexually transmitted diseases and an explosion of teen pregnancies. Fortunately, not every teen has been left in the dark and one 14-year-old girl was brave enough to let her sex education instructor know that she REALLY knew what she was talking about in the form of some rather salty answers on a multiple choice quiz.

She got suspended for it but if you’re going to get suspended, you might as well do it in style.

As you can see in the image below, the quiz was a multiple choice matching type set up on the answers one could give when a potential sexual partner tries to refuse to have safer sex. Apparently, this teenager did not feel that the quiz conveyed the possible consequences in blunt enough terms, so she wrote in her own answers. Some of the best are as follows:

Question: “Don’t worry, I’m on the pill.”  Answer: “I don’t want AIDS.”

Question: “Condoms are grossy; they’re messy, I hate them.” Answer: “So are babies!”

Question: “I don’t have a condom with me.” Answer: “I don’t have my vagina with me.”

The girl’s older sister uploaded a picture of the quiz and all of its brilliant answers to the photo-sharing site Imgur, and from there, it made the rounds on Reddit and other social media. Here is the image:

Now, as funny, and completely truthful, as this girl’s answers are, they got her suspended from school when she handed in the quiz. Some people might argue that she got suspended because she used profanity on a school assignment. I’d argue that the naive, puritanical, unrealistic ideas that many parents and teachers in conservative leaning towns and states have about teenagers and sex are more than likely what caused the suspension.

I don't have a condom with me Answer: I don't have my vagina with me.

This student should get an A+ as she clearly learned the content of the lesson.

...using profanity in a homework assignment will generally get you suspended, no matter what the topic is. Unless you're quoting literature, answering any high school quiz question with "Go fuck yourself" will, at a minimum, get you some unwanted attention from the teachers and administration.

it's funny but it at least warranted an F. This is a high school and there an expectation of appropriate behavior. Suspension seems over the top to me though. I think schools run to suspension way too quickly.

if it happens again, then detention.

suspension should be for only after other measures fail, at best.

note that using profanity on a homework assignment is rather different than using profanity in the classroom. other students were not necessarily exposed to the profanity in the homework assignment, at least not until the suspension made it newsworthy.

Girls and woman should never be meek. None in my family are. Most of them learn to dominate problem horses before they are teens, and thus male humans are easy.

If strong words to a young man are not enough then bruised testicles may soon follow...

I never taught health, in fact I dropped out of big urban public school teaching because the job was too rough. I have a few stories...

Welcome Back, Kotter didn't work out for me.

The health teacher in our school was a hard headed strong willed urban grandma who had literally seen everything. She was the best person possible for the job. Her A.P. biology classes were effective too.

That single response is a bit outside the pale.

On the other hand, the totality of the students response to the quiz fells me that the she indeed, understands what's going on, probably better than the teacher/administrators.

I peed myself...... I then I would explain that yes, it was waaaaay funnier with the profanity, but teachers, school administrators and bosses are not always known for their rapier wit so in the future leave the word fucking out unless you know that the intended recipient will think it is funny/acceptable too.

Bottom line, we don't know why she got suspended, but she put herself in an indefensible position when she opted to use the language. The story is a bit thin on specifics, so not sure how to figure out if it is even legit. But whatever, still funny.

has to act on the use of profanity. If that had not been included, I would have given the kid an "A."

My kids had great teachers for health and human sexuality in their schools. They were not taught in a benighted way, or that abstinence was the only answer.

My older girls had two women teachers. Both were smart and one of them is a friend of mine. My son had a male teacher who has since moved on to a better job. I respected him, too, although I did not know him as well. I am glad I live in a school district where they use some sense.

I do not know how things are here now. The two women have retired. My children are in their thirties. I hope they are still using intelligent people and sensible resources to teach our kids.

I saw much, much worse as a rough big city public school science teacher.

Which is why I'm no longer a rough big city public school science teacher.

My wife's sister still does it but she's some kind of saint.

I taught in Los Angeles. I met my wife there. Her sister also taught in Los Angeles.

The protected classes don't live in the "real" world.

You don't get to be a member of the protected classes until you've learned how to ignore the horrors our unprotected classes must survive.

I'm long since dropped out, fucked over twice, and discarded.

There's an incredible freedom in that...
