So the no-opposable-thumb set has won in North Carolina . . .

And my message is to the young people of that state:

Guys and Gals: your state is run by dinosaurs and god-botherers. If you have any hope for the future, for the future of your children, MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Where to go is entirely up to you — just checking a red-vs-blue map might give you some ideas, though. Go somewhere sane, set up a base, and begin extracting your loved ones from their medieval prison.

In a decade or so, North Caroline will fall over and be absorbed by Tennessee, or made a protectorate of the Federal Government, depending upon how far its previously human population has devolved.

Then we can send in the Peace Corps to rebuild the place.

There once was a farmer named Hollis,
Who used lizards and snakes for his solace.
The children, had scales,
prehensile tails,
and voted for Governor Wallace.

But how about this:

There once was a yokel from enn cee,
Who denied human rights to "Nancys."
Now his state is a wasteland,
All the youngsters gone to far lands,
And his sister-wife decamped for Sin City.

This is the way Repukes do things though. They cheat to get their way. They knew this would be a Repuke heavy primary. So instead of putting this on the ballot in say November when more Democrats would vote, they put it on a day for Repukes.

Oh and it never should have been allowed on the ballot to begin with. Why should an ammendment be allowed on a ballot to take away rights?? I will never understand how these Repukes keep getting people to take rights away.

but we have property in a county where property doesn't sell rapidly and he gets his health care at Duke -- none better. (He's 29 years HIV+). We're pretty much trapped.

We're heartbroken at the outcome.

Such a pity. It's a stunningly beautiful state. Too bad the idiot population is laying waste to it.

Between the gay marriage amendment and John Edwards, you guys have a hard time.

However, Lewis Black loves UNC-Chapel Hill. He went to UNC-Chapel Hill for undergrad, and loved it. He talks about that in his autobiography, "Nothing's Sacred".
