I totally lost a full day. My daughter was in Nepal during the earthquake and finally arrived home, safely, in the wee hours Tuesday. I lost a day, sorry about that.http://www.givelocalamerica.org/
Give Local America is an annual crowd-founding event that dedicates a single day to hometown causesbringing small nonprofits to the national stage, raising awareness, and directing donor dollars toward local causes. Organized by Austin-based Kimbia, GiveLocal15 (#givelocal15) is set to gather thousands of nonprofits together from around the United States to embark on a simultaneous 24-hour online fundraising drive.
More than 7,000 nonprofits raised over $53 million during last years Give Local America event. Causes ranged from health and human services to education and the arts. And on May 5, 2015, more than 9,000 nonprofits will unite to bring the power of crowdfunding to their communities.

A Little Weird
(1,754 posts)I hadn't heard of this one. Kentucky has something similar - Kentucky Gives Day on April 24th.

(22,920 posts)I lost a full day. I edited the OP to explain, but since you saw it, I wanted you to know that I thought it was May 5th today, which is why I posted it...lol.
A Little Weird
(1,754 posts)I think it's good for people to hear about these things anyway so it's on their radar for the future. The KY Gives day is a huge deal for some of the local charities in my town and it occurs every year at around the same time. Plus it never hurts to have a reminder about donating to worthy causes. I'm confident that none of them would mind getting a donation a day late!
It's great to hear your daughter made it home safely!
