A Florida woman seeking to end a hostage crisis sent an urgent 911 plea to Pizza Hut along with her order.
When the manager of the Avon Park restaurant printed the order for a large pepperoni, she also saw this message: Please help! Get 911 to me.
Cheryl Treadway, ordered the pizza online and typed the plea as comment on Tuesday, according to wtsp.com.
Pizza Hut called the Highlands County Sheriffs Office and deputies found a domestic situation in which the father of Treadways children was inside the house with a knife.
Ethan Nickerson was arrested and charged with assault.

(23,156 posts)that a pizza call for 911 as an urban legend has been out there for a while. There is something about this story, even though it seems to have support, that just doesn't ring true for me.
I dunno. I'm just skeptical about things like this.
added on edit:
How in the world would someone be able to add 911hostagehelp! to the receipt? Or do modern registers act sort of like a basic word processing and you can type in anything?

(68,918 posts)print whatever notes are left on the order/receipt. On edit: it looks like she put the 911 Hostage Help on further instructions--like instead of light pepperoni or sliced in quarters please)
I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps she had read this urban legend and actually put it to good use.
