Politico recently quoted Democratic operatives as saying they have calculated 1,024 possible outcomes among those 10 states. Of those 1,024 scenarios, only 85 allow Romney to win.
Of those 85, all 85 require Romney to win Florida.
If you don't believe the Democratic operatives, listen to the Republicans.
Just this week, the Republican Party of Florida sent members a letter that declared: "Florida isn't just a battleground state. It's THE battleground state which will determine who wins the White House."

(2,097 posts)Winning Florida isn't enough. Personally, I'd bet small coin on Obama being re-elected without Florida (though of course I hope he takes it).

(46,673 posts)During the Al Gore Bush year, they didn't put my ballot through the machine. They slipped it in manually into the box without being counted. Of course, I didn't realize what they were doing. Nobody did.
Then I monitored a few elections and didn't see anything that was wrong with my voting location. The next time I went to vote at a new location. They had a middle aged woman who took the ballot. She opened the sleeve, looked at the ballot before trying to run it through the scan a tron. She really didn't try too hard and said it wasn't reading it. I figured she was going to do the same thing as the old man did during the Gore-Bush year and drop it in the box manually, so I grabbed the sleeve and ballot from her and said, "You weren't suppose to look at that ballot. I worked in one of these places and there's a trick to putting these things in." (I had made friends with the guy who did this when I volunteered and he showed me how the ballot got stuck in the envelope, which is why you had to feed the first top one or two inches. YOu could still put the ballot in the sleeve and show the top one or two inches without revealing votes.) On the third try, it went in.
I called the supervisor of elections and gave him an earful. I also criticized him for having a wife and husband in that same room monitoring the votes. The wife claimed she was a Democrat, and the husband was Republican. Still, with all the crap that has gone in this county, they should have picked someone different.
Since then, they changed the design of the envelope and ballot to make it harder for the ballot to get stuck in the sleeve.

(50,414 posts)Considering the electoral map, and the polls, the other "battleground states" will provide Obama with more than enough to win. And, he'll probably win Florida too. My prediction is that the election will be over as soon as the results are in from Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Florida.
There isn't enough magic in Romney's underwear to pull this one off. His base is, essentially, white males. And, there aren't enough of them to counteract the women/minorities/and white males who aren't republicans.
The republicans have become the Washington Generals with less talent.
