Conservatives in Florida were aghast: State documents said that Gov. Jeb Bush and other overseers of Florida's pension system had shifted retirees' money into a company called Movie Gallery, one of the largest film rental firms in America. Most of the titles were standard comedy and action fare, but a fraction were X-rated titles.

I just found it and am reading through it. I don't know much about this yet. It just looked interesting and I thought some here would find it fun to read.
It's interesting to note however, that it is almost ALWAYS that these guys play around with Pension money. It's kinda disgusting.

(8,217 posts)1. So, after reading on this a bit more, this seems to be driving a wedge between
Bush and religious "conservatives".
I wonder if this thing has legs.
Legs and... oh, never mind.

(23,940 posts)2. ya know, strictly from a financial perspective, there are worse investments...
morally? maybe not. strategically? suboptimal, given the voters he needs to win over.
still, i bet it was a winner for the pensioners.

(8,217 posts)4. You're probably right.
Still, kinda odd. I mean, granted he is the head of the board, and probably did not know much about the investment.
I just find it odd that it is not one of the things they looked at more closely.
