http://www.rawstory.com/2015/05/cnn-baltimore-police-probe-into-black-mans-death-fails-to-support-charges-against-cops/comments/#disqusThe Baltimore police investigation into the death of a black man from injuries sustained in police custody fails to support some charges filed by the city prosecutor, CNN reported on Thursday.
Citing officials briefed on the separate probes by prosecutor Marilyn Mosby and police into the death of Freddie Gray, the television news network said the lack of support for charges from the police findings could allow lawyers representing the officers to undercut the prosecution.
Gray, 25, sustained spinal injuries after being arrested, and his death on April 19 sparked protests and a day of arson and looting in the largely African American city.
Mosby charged six officers on Friday with counts ranging from false imprisonment to manslaughter and second-degree murder. She made her announcement hours after the state medical examiner ruled the death a homicide and a day after police turned over their findings about Grays arrest.

(25,241 posts)from both the police investigation and Mosby's office investigation?
The police investigation was turned over to Mosby, but the basis for the charges was her office's investigation.

(15,189 posts)The video looked like his leg was already broken and he was in pain. Also the guy recording it said something about the cops tasing him. Could that have been why he wasn't able to walk by himself? If he had broken bones before he went into the van, then those cops should be held for that too.

(31,849 posts)I must have missed the memo, where over-charging (to get plea deals) is ONLY to be used for REAL criminals; not, police officers that may, or may not, have committed criminal acts!

I have a bad feeling that if those cops get off without any jail time Baltimore is going to burn. This shows once again that you can kill black men and get away with it, it's open season.
