66 years ago, by accident, or planning I am not sure which probably accident, I was born white and

male.

Today I am still white and male. I am also fat and old.

In the sixties I marched in civil rights marches. A few years ago I went door to door against prop 8.

I work for an organization that helps homeless and the poor mentally ill.

Yes, I confess, I am an old fat white male, the perceived enemy of all!

1. I'm not sure why you are a perceived enemy.

There are/were many beloved democratic white men who have fought hard against oppression, including people who died/were murdered in seek of those ideals. You are not my perceived enemy. I don't look at the color of someone's skin. I look at how they treat others. Douche Bags are Douche Bags, regardless of the packaging.

yesterday's voting.

So far today I've seen that old fat white men are the cause of the success of an anti gay marraige initiative and that religious white men are our version of the militant Islamists.

old fat white bigoted men (and women) are the cause of the success of an anti gay marraige initiative and that bigoted religious white men (and women) are our version of the militant Islamists.

See the difference?

Yes, somehow, "white men" are being lumped together as a voting block, when in reality, they are quite diverse in their opinions. Not sure what can be done about it. There is a thread on here about a father who is about to go to prison for falling behind on child support under extenuating circumstances. The "father's movement" is small though, and often ignored. I know that there are white men who need to have their issues addressed, and there are white men who take the time to stand up for the disenfranchised, even when the issues they fight for are only indirectly related to them. We, the disenfranchised on the left, need to give you guys more credit. Keep speaking out and eventually, you will be heard.

Do you really think that this is about you?

I will even answer the question for you, free of charge: No. It's Not about you. Your rights are still intact. If you didn't vote for the amendment in NC, don't try to make it about you. There, all better?

Your question to me isn't even relevant to that discussion. Rather it supports what I am pointing out.

and those other groups? Are white males a minority in this country? Look up the term "white male privilege". You have it. I don't think you are going to get a lot of sympathy here. I may have proven your point, but your point is moot.

As a non-white poster I would like to extend an apology for that behavior on behalf of whoever is doing it. I've seen plenty of it in society myself so I know what you're complaining about isn't bullshit.

People need to get over racial differences and wage war against the real enemy, the Plutocracy.

The Plutocrats keep Christians at war with non-Christians, they encourage straights to gays, they egg on the racial friction, and worst of all, they profit heavily from the battle of the sexes: in all cases they profit because attention is being taken away from what they're doing to screw all working class people.

Now I will admit that the primary supporters of the Plutocracy are white males, and as the population gets browner, support for the GOP is eroding; this is not deniable. But the problem is not white men. Herman Cain is not an old white man. Joe Biden is a white guy and he's getting up there in the years; to say nothing of Bernie Sanders.

The problem is the Plutocracy.

about men - even though he was the last male in the world to deserve to think we were referring to him. I have learned as a liberal Christian to keep reminding myself that I am not part of a hated group. I don't like them either. Hang in there.

It's all in your head. The right wingers love to think of themselves as the "real victims". It's all just propaganda. They hate fairness and they hate to admit that the government can help people.
