so, when are we going to outlaw this shit?....Concentrated within the Dallas metro area, the frequency of this activity has dramatically increased this year. There were 25 small quakes in January alone.
Most are small, but for an area that the USGS says had only one recorded earthquake in the 58 years before 2008, the uptick has many in the community concerned.
Hough, who has studied seismic activity for years, says the shaking pattern "fits the mold of induced quakes."
To translate: the seismic activity could be a result of human activity, namely the disposal of a byproduct of hydraulic fracturing called "flow backwater.".

(9,359 posts)1. I was watching a documentary on this the other day, apparently
when they pump fluid along the fault lines, it causes tremor activity.

(13,877 posts)2. Pretty much the same reason Oklahoma is having similary EQ activity.
Even those who actually admit that it is likely fracking, it's the life blood of both states. No one knows how to re-engineer the economies absent the oil and natural gas production.

(17,173 posts)3. It's all the tunneling between the Pentagon and local Walmarts.
The troops ON the ground are just a small fraction of the troops UNDER the ground. Hear that, Governor? Hear that, Louie? They're tunneling under your house! They're tunneling up to your bedroom! They're coming to GET YOU! RUN! RUN!
(I probably shouldn't do that. From what I've read, they're just barely holding on to their last few strands of sanity as it is.)

(30,058 posts)4. SMU did a study and determined fracking was causing the earthquakes.
Dont know if this area has more faults which could be earthquake prone with the addition of tracking.
