Tom Ridge was saying that the US is in more danger from terrorism than after 9-11.
Is anyone else sick of the constant fear-mongering by the GOP and the media?

(30,058 posts)Worry about any possible problems? If he did this it would be a big lie. We will not return to the pre 9/11 days, we will not be the same country we were before the Oklahoma City bombing. I hate to bust your bubble, it is changed.
Just kidding.
I love it!
Who jumped?
We're in these wars because we were afraid, not rational.

(10,951 posts)the police then that would be a correct assessment. If you consider the terror threat from being from outside the US, he is full of BS.

(12,847 posts)Sure, there are terrorists in this world who want to kill Americans.
But a much bigger threat than foreign terrorists launching attacks in the US has been our government's response to terrorism. The stupid wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have been far more costly to Americans in terms of blood and treasure than 9/11. These colossal strategic blunders and war crimes have poured fuel on the flames of terrorism and severely degraded our position as leader of the free world.
Tom Ridge might be correct when he says the US is in more danger today, but the mindset and course of action he represents is dangerously wrong about how that has come to pass and what we should do about it.

(9,999 posts)After all, he was the genius that gave us the "colors" and duct tape to fight the terrorist threat that amazingly used to increase at the most opportune times for the Cheney/Bush administration.
He was a joke and unqualified for his position. If we are in more danger today, it is directly related to the horrible foreign policy blunders of his bosses. He should go back to oblivion - that is where he is most qualified.

So in order to get them to renew it now, guess they felt like they had to do something.
Never thought I would wonder about this administration like that, but it makes me wonder......
They are definitely turning up the drum beat to war.......

Not one banker, or investment house, or hate spewing demagogue, nor Cliven Bundy sits in jail. And NSA hasn't stopped one plot or "event" with all of its eavesdropping and billions spent.
It must be time to re-up the legal fictions one more time, eh????????????
