That's right, ultra-warmonger and rightwingnut Sen. John McCain has just come down on the side of the Obama Administration's account of the take down of osama bin laden in Pakistan in May 2, 2011. Speaking to MSNBC's Andrea "My husband bilked American's out of a trillion bucks" Greenspan Mitchell today, asked McCain the following:
"Do you have any indication from your briefings, or otherwise, as Chairman of Armed Services, that joint...SEAL Team Six didn't take down osama bin laden?"
To which Sen. McCain replied: "Andrea, put me down on the side of the statement made by the Administration. I simply have never heard of anything like this (referring to Hersch's claims) and I've been briefed several times. This is a great success on the part of the Administration and something we all admire the President's decision to do. So, I'm not in the business of knocking it down and have to have a lot more persuasive information before I can believe that. I cannot diminish the fact that the President and his team did the right thing here and...I regret deeply that we haven't done more to get the doctor out but the fact is the operation was a success and I think it's going to take a lot more information before we diminish it."
Well, now, surprise, surprise! Perhaps McCain's bitterness at losing the presidency to Obama is finally waning or could there be another reason he's willing to side with the Administration against the Hersch allegations?

(813 posts)with Hersch, it would take away some of the SEAL mythos. He is after all a USNA grad. It's always about McCain's ego. POTUS ordered the mission, but the SEALs carried it out.

I just don't think he's bright enough for it to be about any thing else. He was after all, very close to graduating as Anchorman, lol!

It just might be possible that there was high level interactions with Pakistan that led to the raid.
Question... would anyone in the Pakistan government want to admit (or be named) as having helped the infidel US government kill the number one islamic terrorist in the world? If they helped, it was probably under a condition of complete denial by the US. And Obama and McCain are honoring that request. I would too.

Exclusive: McCain Hires Controversial Syria Analyst Elizabeth OBagy
Sen. John McCain has hired Elizabeth OBagy, the Syria analyst in Washington who was fired for padding her credentials, The Cable has learned. She begins work Monday as a legislative assistant in McCains office.
OBagy was a young but well-respected advisor at the Institute for the Study of War and had emerged quickly as an important voice among those arguing in favor of intervention in Syria. McCain and others had cited her work publicly before her nascent reputation collapsed when it was discovered that her claims to having a combined masters/Ph.D. were false and that in fact she had not yet defended her thesis.

America needs a hero. Tonight Jon Stewart was surprised to find that John McCain has ended up being that hero, for his recent surprise trip to Syria, showing an action video with McCains face edited in to really sell it. After poking fun at Anderson Cooper for his comment on different flavors of Syrian rebels, Stewart took McCain to task for just knowing in his gut who the Syrian rebels on our side are, when it turns out that McCain posed for a photo with rebels involved in a high-profile kidnapping case.
Stewart first couldnt help but raise an eyebrow at McCains remark that hell die sometime, but its gonna be in bed. Stewart added, Maybe with a surge of Malaysian white tiger heroin. But regarding McCains innate ability to tell the good guys from the bad guys, it turns out that McCain had a photo op with two men who were involved in a kidnapping. Stewart said, Oh my God, John McCain is literally palling around with terrorists!
And in reaction to a McCain spokesman saying none of the rebels identified themselves as the individuals involved in the kidnappings, Stewart said thats kind of the point, that not everyone is going to be wearing their HELLO IM A TERRORIST name badge.
Stewart concluded that clearly McCain was the unfortunate victim of a terrorist photobombing.

Why? MIC, "national security," etc. Hersch's account is quite believable.
