Mother Jones: Hillary Clinton Has a Family Problem—and It’s Not Bill

Jeb Bush isn't the only likely presidential candidate with a brother problem.

Last month, the Department of Homeland Security's inspector general revealed that an agency official had intervened in 2014 to help longtime Clinton ally Terry McAuliffe, now the governor of Virginia, obtain EB-5 visas (a steppingstone toward a green card) for employees of his electric-car company. Also named in the report was Tony Rodham, the youngest of Hillary Clinton's two brothers, whose company McAuliffe enlisted to secure those visas.

The inspector general chided the DHS official who oversaw the visa program for pressuring his staff to process the request from Gulf Coast Funds Management, where Rodham serves as CEO, despite an "incomplete business plan, insufficient economic impact analysis, and lack of support for estimating direct employment." Watergate it wasn't—McAuliffe and Rodham had just asked for a favor. But for Hillary Clinton, the news may have evoked a familiar dread.

Hillary's campaign-in-waiting has been mulling the question of how to handle her headline-grabbing husband—whose off-the-cuff remarks occasionally brought negative attention to her 2008 campaign—but the former secretary of state and her advisers also will have to look out for her brothers, Hugh and Tony, who have a history of embarrassing their sister.

4. Why is Homeland Security promoting business opportunities for the wealthy and influential?

Does that concern you at all? If this is true of this one family, then it is more than likely that they are acting as business promoters for other wealthy and influential families and individuals.

When did that become the function of this multi billion tax dollar agency?

I think this story should begin a thorough investigation on that agency which appears to be doing very little about security and a whole lot about business promotion.

Chertoff comes to mind eg ....

If integrity matters, they wouldn't.

So we get war profiteers going legit through private investment banks and global intel via Carlyle Group and Booz Allen Hamilton.

'security'. Since when did it become an agency for promoting business opportunities for the elite?

I'd say this is more than a Hillary problem.

What other businesses is this 'national security' agency supporting?

I am thinking that this one family is just the tip of the iceberg and requires a full investigation to find out exactly what they are up to.

They certainly don't seem to do much 'security' work. According Feinstein and Rogers last year, 'we are in more danger than ever'.

as Business Promoters for the rich and influential? Do you think they are doing this ONLY for these pretty influential people, or is their JOB to act as business negotiators for OTHER wealthy and poweful people or those with such connections?

Everything isn't always about our own favorite politician. And until the people stop allowing themselves to be blinded by their own particular preferences, this kind of thing will continue and get worse.

I eg, believe that if they are doing this on behalf of Hillary's family and friends they are most definitely doing it on behalf of a whole lot of other very influential people,, such as the Bush family eg.

Does that concern you at all? That billions of dollars that could go to education, health care, job creation eg, is going to an agency that doesn't seem to be doing too much about security, but a whole lot on behalf of powerful people and their families?

however, which is that apparently this agency which was supported by Congress, was supposed to be providing security for the American people.

Now we learn they are promoting business deals for privileged individuals, like Hillary's family. Yes, it doesn't look good for her, but to me these issues go way beyond our favorite politicians. IF this is true, then an investigation into what is going on at Homeland Security is necessary, imo.

So what point am I missing?

Everyone has been polite and not mentioned Jeb's wife and the Paris shopping spree, but fair is fair.
