Hey, you cant find a bigger fan of Obama, but as a man he is not just capable of being a misogynist, I suspect all men are at one time or another

(3,747 posts)Or woman, for that matter, who has not at some point succumbed to the fact that we live in a patriarchal world. We are all affected to some degree, and we will reflect that in our daily lives.
The problem is not so much in those actions (as long as they are minor) but in how well we recognize and change our behavior.

(31,229 posts)a president, who's on the way out, earns them brownie points? With whom? ODS is a real affliction, and it's not just teabaggers who have come down with it. Sherrod Brown embarrassed himself for even going there. He should be careful that he doesn't become a joke, like Kucinich.

Ask AG Loretta Lynch if the President is sexist. Ask SCJ Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, too.
Thanks Tarheel.

(31,229 posts)playing to lately, but I certainly hope Nina Turner, who has a lot of sway with black voters in OH, will remind them who's actually being disrepectful in this instance. SB forgets that the president was a member of that body, and knows EW personally.

(10,044 posts)You mean that Brown's criticizing the President because he called Liz, Elizabeth?
Brown is one of my most favorite senators, but I don't think it was his call to criticize the President on what he calls Senator Warren. Didn 't Obama bring her from some sort of obscurity and ask for help from her in some banking stuff?
I bet Elizabeth didn't mind. It shows that they like each other as friends, even tho they are on different sides. And for her to take on like that against his TPP, I have to think they were doing some kind of act....and both were quite good.
I thought it didn't matter if Obama called Brown "Sherrod" because after almost 8 years, he must be on first-name basis with almost all of them, even the R's.
You are right, mighty CHA..mohalo for correcting me, or is it mahalo? I forgit.
TPP or TPA, I love this President and know he would never never hurt this country.....

This is some of what he has done for working families..
In the process of implementing and devising the largest economic stimulus in American history, invested the required resources to pull our country out of the worst economic calamity since the Great Depression by providing large investments in American manufacturing, construction and jobs (you're welcome, American auto industry), extending unemployment benefits when it was needed, and yes, managing the financial rescue with the precision of a neurosurgeon.
Provided the largest tax credits for health care in history through the Affordable Care Act. Thanks to Obamacare, 90% of Americans now have health insurance, and the vast majority of those who gained health insurance under the ACA are working individuals and families who have been struggling to make ends meet.
Fought for an increased and inflation-adjusted federal minimum wage and raised wages for workers that
he could through executive action.
Created fairer and speedier unionization voting rules to reduce the undue fear and influence of large companies who wish to discourage unionization.
Removed the constant threat of deportation against undocumented students who are pursuing their dreams in the only country they know to be home, as well as from their hard-working families.
Grown American exports by nearly 50%, and relentlessly pursued - and won - at the WTO with trade cases brought against countries unfairly discriminating against American goods.
Been responsible for the longest period of private sector job growth ever in US history, bringing unemployment down to 5.5% from a Great Recession high of 10%.

(10,044 posts)at the convention in, was it 2004? And his deeds are many and are still happening. He's my favorite topic.
It was love at first sight the first time he flashed his famous smile and giggled slightly after saying something profound.
The President should be given credit for being able to remember all the first names of Congress. And besides, since he was a senator for a term and he knew these senators on a first name basis.
Brown has to be reaching for some kind of glory for defending (what he felt was necessary) the honor of Warren. I think it's sexism that it's his perception of her as Little Red Riding Hood and Obama as the big bad wolf. In other words, he can "take" the disrespect of being called by his first name, but not poor Elizabeth. Elizabeth is David and when she takes on Golieth like she did Citibank, Brown is just plain silly to raise that point. Ohio is important, and he must be thinking of the Vice Presidency with his phony protection of a mere poor woman.
Nobody has to defend Warren. She is copied by the frontrunner who has switched to black pants and that royal blue top, Warren's uniform. I wouldn't be surprised to see the men switching to the same outfit....
Cha
(297,094 posts)I've read this on another site too.. about trying to his star to Sen Warren's wagon so to speak.
Totally agree with your perspective.
