So NOW infrastructure improvement is GOOD?

Really, Joe Scar? Oh, now you're all for a rebuilding of our railroad tracks. Well, where were you when Obama proposed the American Jobs Act? Were you one of those republicans who essentially said "Why should I care about railroads? That's problem for that awful northeastern corridor. Real Americans want their cars and the open road!"

You effin' repukes killed the Jobs Bill. Sure, it was flawed but even so, you get to work to get changes made and spend the money to make it happen.

NOWHERE today did I hear one person talk about how the republicans mocked and killed the Jobs bill.

What a bunch of LOSERS!

DeBlasio, I mean. I have to leave for work before he came on.

China has some terrific high speed trains - I took one a few years ago and put a cup of water on a small ledge next to the window and the cup hardly moved most of the trip. (some of their local trains need a lot of work - but, they have the local trains at least)

And, I'm guessing that the OKC mayor is probably a Republican?

The stimulus package from 2009 helped a lot, but not enough. It should have included WAY more infrastructure funding. If China can drop $500 or $600 billion in infrastructure spending when their economy is just slowing down, how much could the US have used when our economy was in the tank and fading like it was in 2008?

When i was on both the TGV and the bullet train, i had coffee on the little tray. (Yeah, first class ticket in Japan, 2nd class on TGV).

We were going 250 mph and there was barely a ripple on the surface of my coffee.

Pretty impressive.

Yes, I remember that, too. The Bush administration lavished billions on contractors like Halliburton, but of course chose to save money on the backs of workers.

They did reinstate the provision after a couple of months, under pressure from "moderate" Republicans (apparently a few still existed back then).

It was just repealed here in Indiana, after being on the books for 80-some years.

So now, with unions gutted and fair wages virtually a thing of the past, expect Republicans to be all for improving infrastructure. It can be done dirt cheap with quality to match. What a deal!

Point remains that people like Joe Scarborough have no right to their righteous indignation at times like this. It's obscene.

since they took over the Senate. Not many, but a few.

My thought was that if we do actually spend some money on infrastructure & create jobs and grow the economy, they'd be able to say, "see, we take over Congress and the economy grows!"

Even though it's a Democratic idea, Republicans don't exactly have a "shame" gene.

To support their political agenda ahead of America's interests, the GOP refused to help Obama with any of his job legislation. At that time, the economy was slow and the advantages of working on infrastructure at that time were immense. Now, the roads are full of cars, the trains are full and working on infrastructure would be more expensive and inconvenient. Sad that the GOP once again did the wrong thing.
