Bill O'Reilly knows why Christian numbers are on the decline: Rap music

Last edited Wed May 13, 2015, 10:21 AM - Edit history (1)

Fox News host Bill O'Reilly on Tuesday night said that the decline in Americans who identify as Christians signals that the United States "is in trouble" and placed some blame for this decline on the "rap industry" and "pernicious entertainment."

According to a Pew study released on Tuesday, between 2007 and 2014, the number of Americans who identify as Christian has fallen from 78 percent to about 71 percent of the population, while the number of Americans who do not identify with a religion grew from 16 percent to about 23 percent of the population.

"There is no question that people of faith are being marginalized by a secular media and pernicious entertainment. The rap industry, for example, often glorifies depraved behavior, and that sinks into the minds of some young people, the group that is most likely to reject religion," O'Reilly said after referencing the Pew study. "If you are a person of faith, then the media general thinks you are a loon."

O'Reilly said that if Americans continue to move away from religion, it could hurt the country.

He has a point. I remember listening to NWA's Rationally Express Yourself with my friends which opened us up to atheism.

to deny faith in today's hateful ideology's .
The exposure of the underbelly of fundamental ideology is what is turning people away. That fewer people want to be associated with what is becoming more and more a movements of backward thinking, anti-educated thought, and absolute bigotry is a good thing.

Being white, male, over 60 and living in the midwest I can't begin to tell you how much rap music has influenced me. O'Reilly is indeed incredibly insightful.

do I need one of these?

Hey O'Reilly try conflating religion with every other thing in society, especially politics and shoving it in people's faces several times a day. It's like kicking a dog over and over - eventually the dog leaves.

Either people have faith or they don't, right? How would any extrinsic influence change that if the faith was real.
