(268,642 posts)When she and her family returned to England her daughter married her brother's son.
I took weeks to get over that shock. The lady and her husband were first rate professionals.

(9,001 posts)When 2 (or more) siblings from one family marry 2 (or more) siblings from another.
So my grandmom and her sister married 2 brothers from the same family.
It's dangerous because they are genetically closer to siblings than regular first cousins.

(17,528 posts)All the cousins have the same DNA. My niece always loved my son and were best friends. They used to joke around and say it's a good thing it would be illegal for them to get married.
But if one of them were gay...would it now be illegal?

(82,383 posts)(common great grandparent pair) that I did not know well growing up, with whom I had a lot in common, and I could have theoretically considered it. Not illegal anywhere in the U.S. Which is strange, when you think of it. I have other second cousins that lived nearby and I knew as a kid - any of them seemed like relatives - so it's partly psychological.
