Air Force General Defies/Defiles Law By Witnessing for Jesus in Full Uniform on Worldwide TV

That terrible warning to the USA, often attributed to the first American writer to ever win the Nobel Prize in Literature (1930), the great Sinclair Lewis, is now more terribly applicable than EVER; “When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.”

That time has come, my friends, and it’s BEEN coming for quite a while now.

The United States Military has undergone a slow-motion fundamentalist Christian coup d'état. On perhaps no other occasion has this been made clearer than in the brazenly illegal, anti-Constitutional, and wholly theocratic speech delivered on Capitol Hill by United States Air Force Major General Craig Olson to the assembled guests at a 2015 National Day of Prayer Task Force event on May 7, 2015. Unbeknownst to most Americans, yet broadcasted internationally via fundamentalist evangelical television (seriously, it’s actually called “GOD TV”) and internet streams, the uniformed Major General’s insipid 20-minute sermon revealed the frightening face of viciously intolerant, Christo-fascistic religious extremism run amok throughout the U.S. Armed Forces. The worldwide and national security implications of such a Christian supremacist force unleashed throughout our armed service branches is staggeringly high, yet the issue mournfully remains largely ignored by the lassitude and willful ignorance of mainstream press outlets.

Simply put, there IS no more profound clear and present danger to our American way of life than mixing this rabid theology of "Weaponized Jesus" with the vast weapons of our American military’s arsenal.

And I'll see your Sinclair Lewis quote with another, which may not fit here quite as well as yours, but is worth posting anyway:

This age, which should adjudge happiness to be as valuable as soap or munitions, would never come so long as the workers accepted the testimony of paid spokesmen... to the effect that they were contented and happy, rather than the evidence of their own wincing nerves to the effect that they live in a polite version of hell.

the home of "Focus on the Family, that is. I read that when he was looking for a home for his dopey "ministry", he basically found the whitest big/little city in the country he could find, and it just so happened to have the Air Force Academy located there.

The Focus on the Family headquarters is literally within sight of the AF Academy, pretty much across the I-25 freeway.

The evangelical right has been proselytizing the Air Force for quite a long time. I do not find it surprising in the least that this asshole wears an Air Force insignia on his uniform.

Weinstein started his group because of what goes on at the AF Academy. Dare not profess you aren't christian at that school, as you won't have an easy time of it at all.

I'm sure glad I overcame my juvenile fascination with planes before I got myself an appointment there or something equally stupid.

It was bad enough being drafted into the Army (although I don't think the Academy was quite as nutzo in those days, ca. 1959, when I was in high school).

Jesus is all about condemning people to hell and approving of their deaths.

Matthew 5:17

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

Matthew 7:13-14

Jesus says most people will go to hell

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it."

Mark 4:11-12. Jesus likes to confuse people so they will go to hell.

"He told them, “The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those on the outside everything is said in parables 12 so that,

“‘they may be ever seeing but never perceiving,
and ever hearing but never understanding;
otherwise they might turn and be forgiven!’”

Jesus is a monstrous bastard if you read the Gospels closely.

He should have been slapped silly. When men in the military were placing bible quotations on bombs, they should have been slapped silly; when the Christo-facists were taking over the army they should have been slapped silly.

And people wonder why people in other lands hate them.

Fugg it!!!

Great job of noticing that they exist! The problem is, that you, I, and all who replied to this thread (17 responses among, what seems to be, just 3 or 4 people?) are among the few who have noticed and are trying to warn people about this threat.

But no one seems to be listening. *sigh* I have tried. I share your concern and your anger.

What I want to point out right now is one very important question. How are we going to stop the Dominionists?

I feel very strongly about what I am about to say. The only way that Dominionists will be stopped, is to confront them. It has to be an organized movement of people who care about this issue, well oiled, well trained, and unafraid of getting in their faces. The Dominionists see themselves at war with the rest of us who are not them. They have threatened my people (the Nones: atheists, agnostics, and other Freethinkers) and others with their vision of a fascist Christian state, a state which will force you to be their kind of Christian or you will simply not live. Yes, they intend on rounding people up in internment camps and killing them. They are open about it. Rev. Charles L. Worley of N.C. said it in one of his sermons.

[link:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/21/north-carolina-pastor-gay-rant-starvation_n_1533463.html/link]

And remember when the loving fundie Christians wanted to kill atheists for objecting to a cross being part of the Ground Zero memorial? [link:http://madmikesamerica.com/2011/08/christians-seek-to-kill-atheists-objecting-to-cross-at-ground-zero/link] THIS IS A WAR!! As I pointed out in an article I wrote on Daily Kos that progressives and seculars better take Dominionism seriously (and my account was then speedily shut down, frozen, because I suggested violence).

[link:http://www.dailykos.com/story/2013/12/27/1265466/-Know-It-or-Not-Like-It-or-Not-We-ARE-at-War/link]

I am going to be brutally honest. What is needed is an Anti Dominionist Movement. But all I am seeing is a bunch of people flapping their gums and keyboards and not doing anything but sitting on their asses.

So if any of you people who have commented on how these fascist Conservative Christians scare the shit out of you and say there should be something done about it, I have already related to you what should be done. If you are not willing to do what is necessary to stop them, then please, shut the hell up and sit down.

I'll check them out when I have more time to absorb them. I came up with an easy way to deal with them. When people are at there rallies, town halls, etc, and they get all 'holy' in their speeches, call them out. Ask them why they're dragging god and religion into their 'political' speeches and get back to the politics of politics. Seems easy enough to me.

...I agree wholeheartedly. I also think that it would be better to do so in small to middle sized groupings (of anti-dominionists calling them out) at their rallies and public speeches, to be more effective in calling attention to their theocratic stances. Protesting them to bring media attention to who they really are should be done too. What is needed is to get more aggressive. Get in their face. Call them out and call them what they really are: traitors.
