If such a person actually existed, not only is he dead but also not a "natural born" citizen of the United States.

There seems to be a presupposition that if the Jesus myth were true, he was admirable. He was absolutely divisive and immoral.

he`d be considered part of the "lunatic left fringe" based on how far right the centrist button has been moved. He certainly wouldn`t have any Republican support based on his wanting to feed the poor and heal the sick.

A time before that he was incinerated by napalm.

A time before that he was sent to a Nazi death camp.

For some inexplicable reason he keeps coming back and we keep killing him.

It's been that way for over 2000 years now.

If you believe the story of the Gospels, he's basically an omnipotent being who had the power to establish his kingdom on Earth with the snap of his fingers. He chose not to, the story goes, because he wanted people to choose their own path based on their own free will.

if you believe the story of the gospels, his "kingdom" was always an inner, spiritual kingdom that had nothing to do with earthly politics, and his clueless disciples never "got" that.

So he'd get votes from both the left and right, lol, as long as they were willing to overlook his opposition on the other set of issues.

The birtherism would be out of hand, but being God, a Birth Certificate from Bethlehem, Pennsylvania would appear. The Bible didn't really specify which Bethlehem did it?

The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. "But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given." (Luke 12:47-48)

and child abuse is OK:

For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ (Matthew 15:4)

and abandonment and neglect is to be rewarded:

And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife[e] or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29)

And he will destroy entire cities if they don't follow his teachings:

20 Then Jesus began to denounce the towns in which most of his miracles had been performed, because they did not repent. 21 “Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes. 22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you. 23 And you, Capernaum, will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[e] For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.” (Matthew 11:20-24)

etc.

I'd much rather have an enlightened, modern Democrat for President, than a bronze-age megalomaniac.

Sid

Jesus believed that the apocalypse was just around the corner; the focus of his teachings was on preparing one's soul for the next life, not on the organisation of society in this one.
