And now for something completely different: An article attacking Republicans

and their stupid clones

?resize=500%2C281

http://www.politicususa.com/2015/05/18/election-2016-republican-clones.html

---snip---

Today, that dream has largely become a nightmare. Yet Julian Zelizer writes in an op-ed at CNN that, “The multiplicity of voices will allow the party to showcase a wider range of ideas and to foster a more robust debate about the direction of the party.”
Wait a second. Stop right there. A wider range of ideas? Since when has the GOP – in this young century at least – showcased a wider range of ideas, let alone debated about the direction of the party? These first 15 years of the 21st century have been a rapid and steady slide into extremism, the pace of which, if anything, has only increased. There is no debate about direction.

And even for the establishment it seems to be a case of, “how much extremism can we get away with?”
On the other hand, Zelizer is certainly correct about the “corrosive effect” of money – he calls it “private” money but it’s really corporate – has on American politics. After all, the Kochs have already announced that they will buy the 2016 election. Corporations don’t have to be all that secretive about it anymore, now that they’re people according to the Supreme Court.

---snip-----

Extremist rhetoric is already front and center as the candidates step up and one after the other, embarrass themselves on national news shows. Scott Walker, when he’s not uttering gibberish, thinks being a tourist makes him an expert on foreign affairs. Ben Carson thinks prison makes people gay.

Jeb Bush can’t decide if invading Iraq was a good idea, and Marco Rubio can’t even answer the question the same way twice in a single minute of time – on Fox News yet. If a Republican bombs on Fox News – and he is not the first to do so – the Republican Party has problems.

They are all from the same grotesque cookie cutter machine.
How the fuck do these people get their own tv shows to spout this garbage and the never get called on it?

Walker and Rubio have the intellectual curiosity of a pet rock.
Ted Cruz is simply too damned arrogant and obnoxious to ever be elected, but if our universe collapsed, and he somehow won, he would be far more dangerous to us and to the world than those two idiots.

Hucksterbee is dangerous in a different way. His folksy, disarming approach hides that fact that his policies and political stances would have been considered liberal in the 14th century. He is not as smart as Cruz, but he makes up for it with deviousness, unmitigated greed and a sly approach that most people simply miss.

Carly is simply lost at sea. Jeb cannot find the sea, despite his state having one of the longest coastlines in the continental US and A.

Two others cause me some worry. the govs of Michigan and Ohio are more seasoned pols, and therefore more dangerous. They know how to get elected, even in the face of liberal opposition. They pose a great danger.

Should we not be asking these candidates if they would choose Sarah Palin as their running mate?

Even better if Romney somehow gets in...It divides the so called moderate vote in the Republican party and allows one of the nuts to sneak in.

Connolly and Bush split the moderate vote giving the nomination to a guy so far out on the fringe that his presidential ambitions were a regular subject for comedians.

And don't forget that Reagan came within a few delegates of knocking off an incumbent president of his own party in 1976.

Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee, Rick Santorum, et al, aren't Ronald Reagan.

Many of the candidates know they will never be nominated, but getting their name in the media will bring in big bucks, they can get speaking fees, get a job as a Fox commentator, or better yet, their own TV show. They can sell books and videos, even quack medicine. Even the campaign contributions which they get to keep if they do not spend all. What's not to lose by running for president?

I keep waiting for someone - a sensible republican - (OK, sorry, I know you just spit your coffee all over your desk) to stand up and say "NO, this is too much!" Is there not a point where people will realize that Tom Cotton and Joni Ernst do NOT belong in the US Senate? Nor Rand Paul or Ted Cruz? The world's most deliberative body has become a dysfunctional mess. All of these people running for president are cut from the same cloth. My Dad was a sensible republican back in the day - and I think he would be appalled by this absurdity that considers itself a national party.

Gov Good Hair of Texas, and of course, C Christie.

The GOP Party clowns where the circus will become more prevalent as the primary become nearer.

The Democratic Party Presidential Candidates, both will have meaningful issues debates, joined by Gov Martin O'Malley at the end May 2015, that touches on what is important to the 99%ers here in the United States of America.

Meanwhile, parts of the South, who for some reason is very paranoid against the USA government (people) will try to secede because Liberals are the devil.
