Tulsa Woman Accused Of Attacking Dead Body Wears Disguise To Court

TULSA, Oklahoma - The woman charged with attacking the body of a woman in her casket is back in jail.

She was taken into custody in court Monday after the district attorney added a new charge of cutting off the victim's breast and toe. That's along with the previous charges of cutting the victim's hair and face and stealing her shoes.

The judge set a $10,000 bond for the new charge and said Shaynna Sims, aka Shaynna Smith has to stay in Muskogee County, has to be home from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. every day and that she can't have any contact with Tabatha's family.

Sims was almost unrecognizable in court Monday, as the woman arrested with straight reddish hair showed up wearing a big, brown wig and big white sunglasses.

This is a really strange case. I have yet to read any sort of explanation for her mutilating this woman's body. Just bizarre.

Prosecutors allege that Sims, who also uses the last name Smith, cut off the dead woman’s toe, breasts and locks of hair, and slashed her forehead.

She’s also accused of breaking into the woman’s apartment, where she was arrested, and stealing her shoes.

The deceased woman was the ex-girlfriend of Sims’ boyfriend, police have said.

A police report notes that the deceased woman’s loved ones saw Sims with her hands inside the casket at an April 30 viewing at Moore’s Eastlawn Funeral Home, but she told them she was adjusting the woman’s clothing.

The two most charitable reasons I can think of for this crime are that she is nuts or that she was very high at the time.
