Screw waiting for the 'press' - This is where pressure to respond to the issues should come from

...from the candidates, themselves.

CNN:

Democratic presidential contender Bernie Sanders is portraying his rival Hillary Clinton a newcomer to the left's fight against income inequality.

(Sanders) said Clinton should take a position on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive 12-country deal that President Barack Obama is pushing to the dismay of liberals.

"You can't be on the fence of this one," he said. "You're either for it or you're against it. No fence-sitting on this one."

Sanders said he personally likes Clinton. He said he's willing to challenger her on policy issues -- but that he hopes media will cover those differences without Sanders having to launch "reckless attacks."

"Are you in the media prepared to allow us to engage in that serious debate?" he said. "Or do I have to get media attention by simply making reckless attacks on Hillary Clinton or anybody else? I don't believe in that. I believe in serious debates on serious issues."

...Is Sanders is hoping the media does his job for him? Does he want a campaign where he doesn't need to wade in the political muck and dirty himself, as well as his rival?

That's a quixotic view of presidential campaigning, unrealistic and a bit naive if he actually believes this is a possibility. I believe it's not only necessary that he directly challenge Clinton (and other rivals), but, will also be a good measure of whether he will be able to effectively challenge Congress and other political entities to promote and further his agenda, if elected. He's not going to be able to rely on the press to effectively and responsibly undertake those tasks for him.

...is a matter of perspective in a presidential campaign.

Hillary's been 'classy and clean,' as well. This isn't tiddlywinks. It's going to get down and dirty before it ends. I don't really think Sanders isn't prepared for that. I do think he wants it to appear that he's been forced into it.

Enough of the feigning niceties, and on with the competition.
