On Demand, Contingency, Contract, El Al Employment Must Be Stopped.

The aforementioned employment in the title is the culmination of the Reagan Revolution. And where we are today with labor and employment was more than predictable in 1981 when Reagan unveiled his "service economy". And I have written about this trend on several occasions. In fact a number of years ago I wrote about the "No Job Jobs Of The 21st Century". And just about everything I believed about the end game of the economy in 1981 has pretty much become true.

With a prediction of "task rabbit" jobs being done by 40% of the work force by 2020 the trend appears to be worsening. Such a trend for labor is a disaster for the country socially, culturally and economically. No one can sustain a life on such a helper skelter job where there is NO security and NO employer of record. Praising such practices as the "new economy" is a lie and a fraud and workers are the VICTIMS.

The whole new business model is to turn most jobs into "on demand" or "contract" jobs where the worker pays all the expenses formerly paid by the employer. We call them benefits. It is about workers paying all their own taxes, Medicare, Social Security, unemployment insurance, liability insurance, disability insurance and retirement themselves on paltry and inconsistent income.

It is a complete disaster for the workers everywhere. And believe me this business model is the NEW MODEL for the 21st century.
Unless this model is demolished a job will only be a contract for most workers by 2050. And there will be NO middle class of any note.

I worked at DOL for 24 years and apposed this kind of scheme even as it was ballyhooed as a "new freedom" for workers. Actually it
is an economic and even physical death sentence for workers. It is world where there are no labor restrictions.

about the aging Tea Partiers who pooh-pooh people struggling to make a living these days. Somehow they "didn't make the right choices" or whatever the bullshit du jour is. You can't make many of them see that working life these days just isn't what it used to be, and that this was a deliberate step on the road downhill for workers.
